I don't see you as being more 'unique' than the board is. When somebody confronts you with an issue, you make generalized statements like 'I condemn any actions to silence speech based on political motives.', and move on. That avoids commenting on it. Here's some centrist and right leaning alternate news sources for you to read from, if you want to comment on the issue. Amazingly, you still haven't.I hadn’t seen the article about the French scientist as I don’t read new republic. As I’ve said many times, I condemn any actions to silence speech based on political motives. Don’t care if it’s Trump or Biden or whomever. Something which makes me rather unique on this board.

I don't know that I would say Lawpoke is consciously feigning to care. But there is some glossing over the issues. If you really took an interest in issues like suppression of speech and were unbiased, then there would be a lot more stuff you would be bringing up and/or commenting on with Trump. Trump is extremely guilty of attempted suppression of speech, with judges, media, government workers, the justice dept, Law Firms, former political appointees, corporate CEO's, etc. He has really already passed up Biden's entire term in less than 60 days. (Now don't give me grief over my use of the word attempted Lawpoke.) I'm trying to give an unbiased wording of what Trump has done so far.

I just wonder if they are truly picking up these guys on completely randomized searches. The fact that they are going on searches that specifically look for things like text message conversations makes me tend to discount the word random from the equation. But if it is random then that's even scarier. The non-random more focused witch hunt for scientists that Trump may be looking for makes more sense. I just think he has got wind that these certain scientists aren't too fond of him. I know he isn't reading their papers or probably even articles about them, that would be over his head.
I wonder if it’s a response to Europe’s recent crackdown on “hateful” speech and the imprisonment of those who promulgate such speech? It’s very much like Trump to go tit for tat and use their position against criticism of politicians as an excuse to do the same. Especially when the criticism is directed at him. Although we obviously have yet to take it as far as imprisonment.
