Official HC Speculation Thread

Lol

You know I can read this board with out logging in or see old posts when I am logged in? I have been coming here since AZ's actual message board when we still used dial up, so miss me with that bs. Gmoney is still here making an ass of himself, aston is still shouted down, Huffy is still the inside guy.

This board changed in the late 2000s and certain people quit consistently posting here. It is a extremely small sample of TU fans who tend to think alike.

We have a couple older posters who are clearly getting more grumpy.

A few asses and negative people who continue to nay say.

A few clueless posters some of whom fall in the previous groups.

A few knowledgeable posters.

What we don't have is a steady increase of new fans posting, mostly because its tedious, because this group attacks anyone who doesn't fall in line with their group think, because we have done a piss poor job of reaching out to attract new fans, a failing of our past three ADs.

I don't see any of this changing. Well except you and a couple other people continuing to be more and more grumpy.

Don't worry Huffy will be in to tell us about our indoor practice facility thats coming (last 10 years) aston will let us know who his favorites are (last 15 years) and Gmoney will still not be contributing (their lifetime). So not much will change.

Feel free to yell at me to get off "your" grass lol
I assume each Head Coach has direct input into how each player is paid from the NIL funds. I don't get how whatever allegedly happened between Legas and Wilson & staff would carry over to the next coach hire. IMO, such allegations is more of a blackmark on Wilson or however allegedly failed to deliver, not the school or program, unless of course those who administer the NIL funds to Wilson & staff did not allocate funds accordingly. For all we know, Wilson & staff over promised just to land a recruit. IMO, there is much more to this issue than we actually know. If true, TU would not be the first school to have such an issue, see UNLV just a few months.

IMO, at some point players will need to sign contracts to guarantee payment and said contract should have merit clauses, such as for academic, character, agreed services and player performance/effort.

Even better, I would like to see NIL blowup and go away. There will always be a new angle exploited by someone involved.

TX
If Legas was verbally promised money, then go appear before Judge Judy and maybe collect $5,000.00.
I would rather have seen Cardell given a chance to play and have him another two years than the "One
Hit Wonder".

So it is all our fault? I don't believe that a guy looked at the web site and passed based on that. That might be the official party line because it pushes the blame off the administration and onto someone else, but I don't believe it. And a half decent closer could overcome that. Losing a guy because of this board is a sign that whoever was supposed to close him failed at their job. Stop with the BS and tell your buddies in the athletics department to do their f*(&*^g jobs.

There is no hire that is important enough for a strong institution to fall because it didn't happen. What you're describing is a Hail Mary that drops short. The problem isn't that the Hail Mary failed, the problem is that you got into a situation where a Hail Mary was your only chance. The issue is the factors that got us to the point where one missed hire could bring down TU athletics, don't go trying to push the blame off of where it belongs.
I’m with you here. There is very little chance any prospective coach hasn’t done their homework on TU’s NIL including what’s transpired over the past two years Hell there are news stories about it. Coaches talk. You don’t think the coaches on TU’s staff have told their buddies (other D1 coaches) the ins and outs of TU football? Kids talk You don’t think our players have reached out to their buddies on other teams? If a prospective D1 coach has to rely on a message board for inside info on the operational aspect of a schools athletic department then I’m not sure I want that guy leading our program.

That’s exactly what happened to one side of a previous transaction involving Tulsa and it may end up being the event that signaled the beginning of the end of TU athletics.

Go ahead and fiddle though …
Maybe it's just me, but if I were considering the TU job, I'd be a whole lot less concerned about a little NIL shenanigans and a whole lot more concerned that the main guy on the board with inside information and connections is saying that something has already happened that could signal the end of TU athletics...... You're the first credible person to even suggest such a possibility.

This thread needs to disappear. Let the NIL blame die. The next prospect coach, parent, and player do not need to see this mess. I am sure it's being handled.

Here's what I heard from a knowledgeable inside source - "There aren’t many agents at this level of FBS. They have more candidates than openings. They steer their best candidates to the best jobs. In part to maximize their income but also to generate good will from successful hires that lead to future business. And build up on empire. Cynics will tell you a half dozen agents run the sport through the ADs and coaches they represent." So apparently there are these kingmakers who control all the coaches, but we're supposed to believe that the kingmakers don't have minions who scour the message boards of any school where they might place a coach? It's not like the coach answers an ad on Indeed.com and has to do all the homework themselves.

What I hear you telling me is that if I had complained more vehemently I could have prevented us from hiring Kevin Wilson?

Well then, to everyone here I’m sorry that I haven’t been a bigger pain in the ass. I have abandoned my post. For shame.

It’s one of many data points. You can want to not believe it, but the lower levels of the industry monitor boards. It’s just fact.

Mr. D is available. I know he is the highschool history teacher but he did coach the girl's middle school basketball team, one academic bowl tournament, and since Im only on season 3....currently girl's volleyball coach. He wants that football coach spot though.

Henry Winkler played a football coach in a movie once. Maybe he would want to coach Tulsa? Granted he is 79 years old, but we are talking "The Fonz" here dang it!

Might as well just throw Peter Griffin in as a candidate as well
You know what really grinds my gears? The fact I don't think we can afford the animated character tax clause in the new NCAA University Fleecing contract. But if we could raise the 700 million necessary, Peter Griffin is a solid choice.

I would rather have Hayden Fox. He won a national championship at Minnesota St. he needs to bring Luther and Daber with him.
Hayden Fox couldn't coach The Fonz's boxer shorts to victory, much less a college team outside of Northeasternwesternmiddle Minnesota State A&M Southeast.

Quagmire as the OC , Chris as the Waterboy , and Meg as the mascot, and anytime she tries to cheer , the whole team yells “Shut up Meg “

Fritz Winkler was an assistant on my soccer team around 1980. His son Markus was a pretty good player. Is he still around?

The head coach of those teams was Walter Schnoor who ended up coaching at TU. I am pretty sure he is still living.

Just giving options.

So when someone asks you for the most boring and useless fact you've ever heard, here is your answer - Coach used Minnesota State as a fictitious school but Minnesota State actually exists now so it's an alternative history show like Man in the Dark Castle, pretty much exactly the same actually.

Funny thing is, Minnesota State used to be known as Mankato State which was the school Coach based Minnesota State on (same colors and everything).
