Official HC Speculation Thread

I’m just saying you are wrong about how high TU will go. This isn’t your big brother’s admin anymore and quite frankly the president has more power than ever before. If they need to go up to $2.5 to get Kinne, they will. Now, whether that would be enough to make him jump, I don’t know.
And you have that from good sources? Aa well, you aren't taking his buyout into the equation.

If he has one.
Why would they offer him that big of a raise without a buyout. That doesn't even make sense. And there is no way they would give him an escape clause for TU. That was their most immediate worry. That's dreamland to think there isn't a buyout.

Is he our best choice thought? That is the bigger question. I am going to assume that our new AD has his own ideas and will not fixate on hiring a former player. Not that he would rule somebody out for that reason, but that he would give that factor a pretty low weight.

Being a former player gives us a better in with them, not just the familiarity factor. They are really good candidates as far as I can tell. This is unlike past candidates that were floated out there that had local ties, in my opinion. My fear is that Moore will go with familiar ties to himself, without considering the two candidates equally that we have local ties with. He is already considering two that he has ties to.

He needs to consider his ties, our ties, recommendations from outside, and give them all equal credence, to do a good search IMO.

Contracts are negotiated, not one side dictating to the other. I would think having an out either outright or in a discount is pretty common for coaching. Considering other coaches have had them in the past and used them.

We were far from the only threat, Kinne is going to be a hot commodity in two/three years regardless where he is at.

I remember why I rarely post over here. The same people who know zero nay saying everything. First it was their NIL money, then his salary, now his buy out. All pure speculation, meanwhile out AD is talking about NIL money and positioning the programs in this volatile era. Which by necessity is about money and willingness.

We're at a crossroads here and it seems the schools leadership and supporters/donors know that. Not sure there are a lot of restrictions being set, which matches previous efforts in similar situations like the offer made to Bill Self. Doesn't mean it will work, it didn't with Self but they are putting together an effort to get the best possible guy here. If thats Kinne, Texas St is not going to be an issue, not the pay, not the buy out, not the NIL

How funny. You don't have a clue, and are speculating just as much as anybody on here.

If he wouldn’t accept a buyout clause two years ago do you think he’ll suddenly accept one now?

I don't get all the unabated GJ love on here. He's 6-5 currently and 4-3 conference. It's typical for message boards to post only names that people recognize and are familiar with. This search will occur nationally, and my guess is it will be a bunch of names never mentioned here.

You are probably right about the selection not being in the listings posted here; at least until near the close of the process when leaks occur.

If we hire a name no one is familiar with and if next year starts slow we will hear “Why didn’t we get (Fill in the blank)…”, if we hire an Alum and the same scenario occurs then “why do we only look at Alums”.

There will be complaints whether we get an up and coming but (unproven) coordinator, an Alum, a retread or coach from a lower division (doesn’t know what it takes to win at the FBS level).

I will support the hire until on field performance or off field incidences dictate otherwise but will give them at least two years to see progression.

It’s a matter of perspective Considering the coach prior to GJ went 13-35 the turnaround under GJ is impressive imo

He was also 12-2 at Incarnate Word.

I'm not saying he's my top choice, as if my opinion matters :p, but he's still a massive upgrade over Wilson
