This is going to be a good hire for Memphis. I know a lot of people here weren't necessarily fans of his, but there's no doubt he's been around enough great coaches to be ready by now.

I'm happy for Memphis and Norvell. I don't think they'll miss a beat next year.

IMO, Memphis is going to take a step back next year. They might be fine in a couple of years but Norvell has a completely different coaching style than Fuente. I am just happy he landed in Memphis instead of being in Tulsa.

Could be, losing Lynch will be a huge factor. But I still think they hit a home run with the hire.

He can hire Blank as an assistant.

This will be a train wreck.

I am shocked Memphis didn't look at Meacham or Cumbie. Similar system as Fuente and guys who are probably ready to be HCs. Norvell, IMO, has always come across as a bit immature.

Coach BB might end up heading over to VT with Fuente. He seemed to do a good job scouting and helping them prepare for upcoming games this year. Gotta give credit where it's due. I would imagine he'll get an invite from Fuente.

Memphis has a solid QB waiting behind Lynch...he used his red shirt this season, and did not play...his name is Brady Davis out of MS. (we list him as 6'4, 205)

Memphis has a pretty weak schedule next season with teams like: SEMO (FCS team), Kansas, Tulane, SMU, and a rebuilding BGSU...I think Norvell can at least win 6-7 games in year one and make a bowl. (at least I hope)

from 2007-2015 the Graham/Norvell combination has worked well...I'd love to see Bill Blankenship as OC/Deputy HC

Novel only coach receivers here if I remember correctly. He was never the OC.

ASU was a fun team to watch last year. They kindof fell off late and this year hasn't been pretty.

He will fit in just fine

Paul Smith is sharing a story on the Animal right now with Chadwick about TG firing Norvell during the middle of a game in 2007 and rehired him after the game. Smith says TG was pretty serious and told Norvell to shut up and not say anything else the rest of the game.

This story is hysterical!

Crazy how many people from the 2005-2008 staffs have gone on to make splashes around the country. Todd Graham's magic ability was putting together one hell-of-a staff.

I would love to see Blankenship as the Memphis OC. That would be great. ;)

Does that mean he would install the "Union Offense", if so all the opposing coaches would be seeking out Tremble for a defensive scheme on how to stop it!

He retained our current OC Darrell Dickey. He has hired Tulane's RB/TE coach David Johnson who will coach WRs. He also hired Alabama Grad Assistant Dan Lanning who will coach safeties. He has a couple of coaches from Arizona State coming but don't know when.

I am looking forward to recruiting. He looks to be going after impact players. Recruiting wasn't Fuente's best characteristic but he was a hell of a leader and player developer. Norvell looks to be able to target talent that will be a ready to contribute when they get to campus or after1 year of redshirting. He gets you pumped up I will not deny that.

Yeah, I wouldn't lol, that David Johnson is OUR former QB/GA David Johnson. If him and Norvell were good enough for us, they are good enough for Memphis, I guess. Now Darryl Dickey, the Losing Season King of Denton, didnt do much at UNT, but I guess he's just around to babysit Norvell through a first year as an HC.

I'm pretty sure it's not the same David Johnson. Our David Johnson is coaching at UCO.

No, it's not our David Johnson.

Our David Johnson is a highly regarded high school coach in Louisiana that moved up to college lst year at Tulane. Him and Norvell are going to be hitting Louisiana up for us in recruiting.
