UAB has put out their non conference schedule but the dates for the conference games haven’t been set so I am sure that is across the board. So hopefully they will be out in a week or two with everyone

Mid to late September. I expect we might post a full schedule at that time.

Speaking of basketball, which we haven't for a while, I don't remember what they can
officially do with coach participation this time of the year, but they must be doing a
lot of team work (scrimmaging, etal) and strength work in weight room.....

Is anybody watching? They should be far enough along to start looking like a team,
and some of the individuals starting to emerge into what they will become as part of
the playing rotation....I wonder if we will be surprised by who may be included in that
group....Any thoughts??

Hard to imagine so many players from all the different sources becoming a cohesive
team in such a short period of time...This has to be a new and demanding experience
for Konkol&Co.....

In 7 years at LaTech, Konkol had a top 200 non-conference SOS once and played 14 non-D1 games. Challenging schedules is not something I would expect to see from him.

We need some electrolysis to get rid of the rust, if you could even call it rust.

Did somebody kidnap our basketball season scheduler person? Is that the reason we're still waiting?

I think the latest it's ever come out is the 26th. But they have been putting it out like a week later every time out. So that should put it coming out between now and Oct 2nd or 3rd. Sometime in the next 2 weeks.

Which I have never understood. Weatherford is west, not southwest. Lawton is southwest.
I graduated from there 50 years ago. We went by the campus a few years ago while driving to Tulsa and very little had changed other than adding a few buildings on the north side. Go Bulldogs! Except when they play Tulsa of course.

The schedule has to be coming any day now. Some conferences are even starting to release the conference schedule.

We host New Mexico State on Friday, December 22nd. That should just about do it.

11/6 Central Arkansas
11/9 Incarnate Word
11/16 Jackson State
TBD South Carolina State
11/25 at UALR
12/2 at Oral Roberts
12/5 Loyola-Chicago
12/10 Oklahoma State in OKC
12/16 Missouri State
12/22 New Mexico State
12/29 SW Oklahoma State

I’m hoping for at least one more. We need at least a 30 game schedule. I’m also hoping we go unbeaten with that OOC schedule. Two of those games (SWOSU and SC State) won’t be considered when doing tournament rankings because they’re not D1. I know, its way too early to be thinking tourney but I like to dream.

Best teams we have on the non con are Jackson St, Miss St., and OSU. Whoo hoo.

I like this schedule. (7-4) or (6-5) I had rather predict low and outperform. Has the chance to provide some confidence in a brand new young team. The schedule last year doomed the team from the start. They never recovered.

I was kind of hoping for one quality team, a little better than OSU or Miss St, late in our non con schedule. But is a good schedule for us as a young and inexperienced team, regardless.

I think that is why the power team is a scrimmage which won’t count against us but we learn a lot.

We have six slots they could add a 30th game. 11/3, 11/12 or 13, before or after SC St, 11/28 or 29, 12/13, & 12/26-30.

Last year was the only season, other than the covid season where we played 29 games or less.(in the last 10 years) We played 29 last year, and I believe 28 the covid year. And we only had one non D1 game last year I believe.

Not that it makes our schedule much stronger, but SC State is D1, very low D1, but still D1.

SC State is D1. I believe they play in the HBCU conference the MEAC. Hopefully we can be 6 or 7 and 0 going into the meat of the non-con schedule against teams that have a chance of being in the NCAA tournament. OSU, Missouri St, New Mexico St will all likely contend for NCAA spots. I don't know about Loyola. They've not been what they were under Porter Moser but aren't they moving to a higher tier conference (A10 maybe) which might boost their recruiting some. If we struggle in any of the first 5 games, we should worry.

I see 6 wins in this schedule. I would love to see more but I don’t have any expectations after last season.

I'm taking it a game at a time. I think the talent level has been raised bigtime, but it'll be interesting to see how it meshes together...such is life in the transfer portal era.

Did you look at any of these teams records last year? All it takes is a minute to check them at ESPN. It's not an absolute predictor of next year, but it has a strong bearing. New Mexico St(10-21) & Loyola Chicago.(9-15)

The only ones that can be included on that basis alone are OSU & Missouri St. The next best record(in a crappy conference) was Jackson St. I have a feeling Jackson St will be better than Loyola or New Mexico St. That's not much of a compliment.
