Seems the Tigers might be struggling a lot more than they or anyone else is used to. Saw this article...seems the Grizzlies can cancel their deal with UM allowing the Tigers to use FedEx Forum if their avg attendance dips below 6,000/gm for 2 consecutive seasons. Currently they are averaging roughly 5900 this year,down from 10000+ just 2 years ago.

The deal that is in jeopardy is the Grizzlies paying UM to use the arena.

I like that they call them a "poor urban university" and throw in they don't get $30 mill for being in the "power 5." This is after they work for years to break up C-USA so us and some other schools can pay money to re-join our league, plus UCONN, Cinci, and Navy. Oh, and South Florida, that powerhouse.

But when they have to make a hard choice and pay money, it's somehow unethical.

I remember a certain Memphis fan popping up on this forum a couple years back scolding us for not filling up our arena while gloating about Memphis tradition and their attendance numbers. All this while Memphis was fielding very good teams and we were still (and still are) in rebuild mode. Looks like that tradition and Memphis pride ain't filling up their arena now. Easy to criticize when your on top and someone else is struggling. Now the shoe is on the other foot, good luck with that mess! What TU hoops has accomplished in the past and can accomplish in the future is why I have been a proud fan of this program. We haven't sold our soul for wins, ala Calipari and Memphis, but we have won in the past with solid recruiting and solid kids. We have shown in the past that we can win big doing things the right way and I hope that continues. I hope we put the icing on the cake for Memphis with a W in their arena in front of their 5,000 fans.

Speaking of Calipari, although Kentucky is easily beating South Carolina on the road today, it was fun seeing him tossed after 2 technicals for arguing a call.

And the whole game he's yelling instructions to players that don't listen. He seems to think he's in a photo shoot for GQ and has to be on the sidelines, and on the court, to be seen by the cameras.
