Easy money, and a no lose proposition. I love bets like that.Originally posted by Tulsa_:
I am in Vegas. I took SMU on the money line.
I will lose that bet and propel TU into the AAC lead.
+1. We can control our own destiny in this and that's what we should be focused on doing.Originally posted by TUERA:
Heck lets just win out and call it good! Sound like a plan?
We got the same officiating against SMU which was garbage. Their bigs are allowed to mug, grab arms, bump, scratch, etc. and not get called. The backup PG for Memphis comes in and Moore hooks his arm and the kid gets called for a 2nd foul in 30 seconds.Originally posted by youngblood223:
I made the comment last night that Haith should make a comment in the media before the game ala Phil Jackson. Play some mind games on this and get the attention of the league and official of the impropriety that's going on for SMU. I thought the officiating was terrible in favor of SMU. But I also think Pastner has something to do with that.
Losing to SE OK ST doesn't show me much. Everyone has a down year from time to time. I thought we played SMU well.Originally posted by TU_BLA:
SMU by 2.5 according to Vegas. IMO everyone gives Memphis too much credit. They just haven't shown me much

Anything worth doing, is worth doing right. That's not doing it right. I'd just make the comment that it seems their allowed to be extremely physical and the officials put them on the foul line, so we'll have to manage that a little bit. Something very direct...Originally posted by TU_BLA:

I like Haith coming out and being quoted: "We need to make sure we don't get stuck behind Moore's craftiness of backing into players and creating contact. Hopefully the officials are able to see through that tactic and call him for the player control foul it is since he is the one creating the contact. We also can't get caught up in SMU's mind games. They try to get you off your game and talk a little on the court. We need to focus on playing and not get drawn into that type of stuff."
A nice little reminder from Gragg to the AAC officials with some game film to get this crap to stop would be nice too. Memphis' PG fouling out on the T for telling the SMU player barking in his ear to shut up. Clear as day on film the SMU player was barking. While the T on the Memphis player was warranted, it should have been a double with the SMU player. Same thing happened to Ray in the game here after Moore got fouled. One of the illiterate thugs from SMU said something.
Pastner was remarkably restrained for him considering the atrocity of the level of officiating.
And Teams have down games, or series of games. SEOSU was a fluke caused by players losing focus. Same thing happened with @UCONN. When this team is focused, they are capable of beating anybody. Memphis should know this well as you came into Tulsa and met us when we were dialed in.Originally posted by gomemphistigers1:

key to next season will be keeping Austin Nichols while adding the Lawson bros.
I find myself in the distasteful position of rooting for the top 4 in the AAC so they will make the NCAAs...we have to keep up appearances and such
There is a reason that was an off game. It was admittedly a VERY off game, but nobody here is holding that loss against Haith or this team. You are right though, the selection committee cannot afford to care about that, but you are in no such position. That fact makes you come off as kind of a jerk.Originally posted by gomemphistigers1:
"Does a 10 game conference winning streak after that loss show you much, Tiger?"
No, it doesn't...esp when it includes no ranked teams, and doesn't include the AAC's best team, SMU.
"Does your 11 loss season show you much Tiger?"
Yes, It does...it says to me after 106 wins (26.5 Ws per season) and 4 straight NCAAs, we're having a down season.
I'm not concerned due to our AAC best recruiting class.

"Cheer for us if you want but don't expect any return favors."
I do what's best for the AAC, I don't any favors from people like you.
"you might check out the unfortunate facts about Haith's family that
occurred resulting in his absence from the program until right before
tipoff."
The Selection Committee doesn't care, and either do I.

Not sure this makes sense to me. 5 seed gets a bye on the first day and a game vs. Cincinnati or Temple on day 2. 6 seed needs 4 wins in 4 days, will end up playing the 3 seed (Cincy or Temple) on day 2 and likely the 2 seed (Tulsa or SMU) on day 3. Personally the extra day of rest at this point in the season is a big deal.Originally posted by gomemphistigers1:

as for our game, I'll be there, and whatever happens, happens...Memphis has to win the AAC tourney either way to get in the NCAAs...and to that end, I'd actually prefer the 6 seed over the 5.
You wouldn't have anyone left to play having to play Temple and Tulsa back to back. Several writers described the Tulsa/Temple game last Sunday as being the equivalent of a football game. It was pretty physical and the refs let it be so, especially underneath...but don't touch anyone outside the arc.Originally posted by gomemphistigers1:
If it's Houston, Temple, Tulsa...I'd prefer that route to the champ game...not having to face SMU til the final...that said, long way to go.
