This was the biggest coaching mistake I have seen in 20 years here. Take out the player of the game and put in a good but inexperienced Freshman . Would any coach in America have done that????????Why the hell did he take Jackson out? Idiot.
A silver lining
Maybe Penny earned a
Contract extension
Post-game interview he said he wanted to drive and distribute to Draine or Horne for a three. I would have had Jackson drive. Or kept him in as a third option to take a three. This was the biggest coaching mistake I have seen in 20 years here. Take out the player of the game and put in a good but inexperienced Freshman . Was thinking the same……. HUGE mistake! Why the hell did he take Jackson out? Idiot.
"ok guys, here's the play. We bring it up and try to shoot but if you're not open, throw it to someone else. If you get it thrown to you, try to shoot but if you can't, throw it to someone else. Ok, we good on the plan?"How do you use up 24 seconds and not get a shot off?
Maybe have the guys who are supposed to get distributed to do something other than jog around just outside the 3 point line. the Memphis defenders barely had to move to keep them covered.Post-game interview he said he wanted to drive and distribute to Draine or Horne for a three. He said Draine was open but bad pass.Maybe have the guys who are supposed to get distributed to do something other than jog around just outside the 3 point line. the Memphis defenders barely had to move to keep them covered.
Frank’s insanity everyone in the world is crazy and it’s not my faultHe also complained his players kept breaking off from his offense to play one on one and take bad shots.
If this is truly the case then it is more than past time to move on from Frank. I believe he has lost this team anyway you look at itHe also complained his players kept breaking off from his offense to play one on one and take bad shots.
Blamed several of his players........... That sounds like Wojcik's last few games here,,,blame the players that you recruited. He also complained his players kept breaking off from his offense to play one on one and take bad shots.
He wasn't open, guy picked him up as he came across the top and there was help defense from the other side. Even if the pass had been perfect, it would have been contested. But the real problem is the "play" had gone completely off the rails long before that, Pritchard was just damn luck to get rid of the ball in the general direction of Draine. Draine needed to get to that spot a full second earlier if that was actually a play. He wasn't doing anything, he certainly could have if he had known that was comig. He said Draine was open but bad pass.
Or shoot a half court shot."ok guys, here's the play. We bring it up and try to shoot but if you're not open, throw it to someone else. If you get it thrown to you, try to shoot but if you can't, throw it to someone else. Ok, we good on the plan?"
I wish I could disagree with your post, but I can't. And it's an unfortunately very astute observation.I'm going to try and make a point, and hopefully I will be successful. I googled "NCAA basketball coaches on the hot seat". The last report was from 01/14/22. I fully expected to see Frank's name on the list, but he was nowhere to be found. That is how far the program has fallen. He has created an environment of mediocrity, and nationally, that's what is expected of us. There was a time when a coach at Tulsa would sweat if they had just a handful of losses. If you have sub-par seasons year after year, then that becomes your identity. The same thing happened with Wojcik. For a couple of years he was on the "hot seat", and then he quit making the list. If a university lets a coach stick around long enough, then evidently it doesn't matter if you have a crappy season or not, because the coach has created the identity he is being judged by. It's time for TU to get their old identity back.
I haven't seen a recent update to the hot seat article, but it would be shocking if Frank isn't on there....and hopefully the author doesn't have inside information...ugh.I wish I could disagree with your post, but I can't. And it's an unfortunately very astute observation.
On the other hand, the alternative would be even worse - that the author actually had information that Frank in fact was not on the hot seat...
In a ball of smoke and fire like our season....Frank’s seat should be incinerated by now.
