Lordy...

High Point is a very wealthy alumni base.
On the down low it has unbelievable facilities for its size and budget. If you aren’t a Top 50 player and take a soccer visit there, you stop looking after that. Especially if you go in the fall. Top 30 most gorgeous campuses.

They’ve been to the tournament in the last year. No current player can remember us having any success in basketball. Anyone talking to him can’t remember either.

The school is consistently ranked #1 in its region amongst regional schools. For decades. Something Carson openly aspires to achieve. I assume he is doing so since we are basically out of the national rankings and the scoring appears tilted against us.

There’s considerably more that High Point offers that TU simply can’t match besides NIL.

Yeesh, with friends like these, who needs enemies?

My daughter has a friend, we'll call her Jane, who has a boyfriend named Derek. Derek told Jane that all his friends say she's ugly and that if she gains weight, he'll dump her. But Jane is like "deep down, I know he loves me". Girl, he doesn't love you, he loves abusing you, those are two very different things.

Not that it matters to athletes, but TU's average first year student GPA, SAT and ACT score are all higher than High Point and TU's acceptance rate is quite a bit lower. Oddly but interestingly, High Point's class is almost 60% women, not a lot of bro energy. I'm not sure why some would argue that we lost the guy to High Point bc TU sucks and not because Konkol sucks at recruiting but I'm not inclined to believe that.

Not sure why anyone would think these NIL players care about the academic standing of their school absent attending a top 50 institution

But…but…. I thought our AD in the Tulsa World said we would have a new dedication to basketball? And I thought we were supposed to actually have NIL this year!?!?

You’re telling me that it was all a lie?/s

Lol

In some cases Momma is still involved. She has a mortgage she wants paid, but she’s still around.

If a guy has two pretty similar $ offers, he'll pick based on other factors, probably the same factors that guys used to pick on before NIL. So against peers and schools that are a small level up, where NIL is fairly similar, recruiting prowess of the coach matters. If we're losing to a lower level school like High Point (don't buy the High Point is better than TU nonsense for a second), then that means we're not competitive on non-monetary recruiting factors.

Maybe it's just me but if I had to pick bn getting $50k to play for a coach who'll win 20+ games a year and $50k for a coach who'll lose 20+ games a year, I'd pick the former.
