Kansas St Game Thread

Would be nice to pull it out against OSU, and go on a five game winning streak, opening the conference at 1-0. Is within the realm of possiblity, considering we open the conference with E Carolina.

Big win tonight. Hope this starts to swing the momentum in the right direction. Gritty play down the stretch. Tough break with Jeffries. Hope he heals quickly.

Good win against a home team crowd on a semi-neutral site. Kstate shots were off by a lot. That got in their heads early and never could get it going. A lucky win is a win. Joiner was a dagger at the end and Ibanu was nails at the line. Our best player had 8 turnovers, OUCH.

I hope this game is a turning point in the season... again, we have talent, it just needs to come together. This was a really nice win.

The matchup zone was the best zone I’ve seen under Haith. It was evident we got lost a few times on defense and we still sag too far in on the weak side leaving the corner three open. BUT we FINALLY extended the zone outside the arch which leads to more passes at the top and makes it harder on the offense to get the ball inside for a kick out.

Odd in a way.....If he catches the ball out front or deep corner, he seems to
have a good outcome....If he catches the ball on either baseline, left or right,
he seems to freeze, and although covered, holds the ball....He eventually
gets double teamed and figures out a way to turn it over.....

The coaches might work with him on passing the ball right back out if covered
on the baseline @ ten or twelve feet.....He very seldom scores from there, but
he is probably leading our conference in turnovers from there....

As far as he generally plays from the basket, I'm amazed at how good of a
rebounder he is.......

yes, a win is a win, etou has 15 turn overs in the last 2 games. I believe he is trying to do too much as he has no help from some players. wheeler and Henderson do nothing. their passing, ball handling and defense is terrible. wheeler rebounds well from the guard position and Henderson scores a little, but that's it. scott can score, but travels, charges, fouls and does not handle very well. Jackson is a freshman. he does some good things, but still makes freshman mistakes. he will learn and become better. artison needs to play inside because he is needed there and he does not have an outside game. why is korita not getting playing time. plays good defense. passes and handles well. played 19 minutes against oru and scored 9 points with 1 turn over. played 21 minutes against iil. state (second game) and scored 8 points withn1 turn over and gets no playing time against Kansas state. posters on here want frank to play the best players, well I think its not happening. frank talks about finding the best players. I think he does not have a clue. he plays korita and then does not give him any playing time in other games. same with Jackson. I was ok with franks hiring, but I am not ok at this point as franks sub patterns are terrible. he hires Henderson to coach defense and it is no different than feltons defense of last year and before.
come conference time. some of these players will struggle big time as the aac is much more difficult than the ooc. if this continues I see only 12 to 15 wins. as always its jmo.
ps: the only way we beat Kansas state is they shot 3 pointers at 3/31. if they make 3 more 3s we lose.

Wait so you’re saying if the other team makes more shots they have a better chance to win? Someone better get that info to the coaching staff stat!!!!

If you don't pass the ball to open players, especially when you are in trouble,
you are obviously not going to get much help from them....Etou tends to be
a ball hog....He doesn't seem to realize that the time to pass the ball is before
the situation becomes helpless and hopeless......He has been doing that time
after time.......

We won't be very good until he learns that some situations are green light,
and some dictate that you pass the ball....Right now, he doesn't seem to
recognize the difference.....Or at least, doesn't act on it......

He often loses the ball as he's turning or changing direction, with the ball somewhere between his thigh and stomach level. This usually happens somewhere around the time he starts to drive towards the basket.

He should realize when he is in traffic that he needs to put a monster grip on the ball down low at the beginning of the change in direction, before he goes up with it. Otherwise he should not go into traffic/pass. He is careless with the ball before he turns enough to see what's in front of him. In football he would have a ton of fumbles.

Interesting comments....For what ever reason(s), both he and Igbanu, when
receiving the ball in the post, seem to hesitate forever(probably a very short
time, actually), before doing anything, allowing the defense to get in perfect
position....Neither seems to make moves that are a continuation of the catch..

I don't notice that with Etou when he catches it out on the floor....Both players
seem to have an inordinate no. of shots blocked/altered, and/or turnovers when
handling the ball in the post....Of course, in a perfect world, neither would be
our primary five position player....Either offensively or defensively.....

you would think that would be correct. someone should tell the coaching staff. but I do not think they are listening or even care.

Fairly sure lynesrun is related to Lawson in some way
nice try. I have never met any of the current players, including Lawson. what I see and write about is how I see it and nobody will change my mind except the players, if they state playing a lot better. I appreciate your attempt at humor as I laughed when I read it. I do laugh at myself sometimes.
