JR Rollo joins TU basketball radio team

TULSA, Okla. – Former Tulsa basketball player J.R. Rollo has been added to the TU basketball radio team as color analyst, joining play-by-play announcer Bruce Howard to broadcast Golden Hurricane Basketball for the 2015-16 season.

Rollo previously served as Tulsa's basketball analyst for two games during the 1998-99 season. He played center for Tulsa from 1992-96. During his career, he was a member of three NCAA Tournament teams (1994-96), including two Sweet Sixteen appearances (1994-95), and two Missouri Valley Conference Championship teams (1994-95). He served as a team captain his senior year, when TU won the 1996 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title.

Rollo averaged 5.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and a .504 field goal percentage in 122 games during his career at TU, and started all 31 games during Tulsa's 1993-94 Sweet Sixteen run. A native of Baldwin, Mo., Rollo received his bachelor's degree in business administration from TU in 1996.

Rollo played one season of professional basketball in Luxembourg in 1997. He served as an assistant basketball coach at Union High School from 1996-98. He was head coach of the Athletes First AAU program from 1997-99, winning Oklahoma state championships in 1997 and 1998. Rollo currently serves as a branch manager for BSN Sports in Tulsa.

The Golden Hurricane plays exhibition games against Haskell Indian Nations on Nov. 7 and Rogers State on Nov. 10 at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. TU opens the season Nov. 14 against Central Arkansas at 7 p.m. at the Reynolds Center.
