Jose Game Thread.

Unfortunately targeting is a rule and that fit the rule. The rule exists to make everyone feel better about the players giving themselves brain damage literally every other play of the game.

Kicker touched the ball at the 43/44 yard line. Obvious blown call. These refs are about as sharp as a box of rocks.

Packer down on the turf suffering from embarrassment after that one

Nice Pecker fumble.

Al says, “this isn’t a circus it’s a football field”. WTF is he saying?

Yeah, and the play calling got better as the game went on. Need to start games like that. Solid, good game outside of penalties. Here's hoping to a competitive game against OSU.

On the radio they said Taylor was in street clothes and Brooks limped off I hope they aren’t out long

With all the running plays to begin the game with, just wonder if Coach Montgomery wanted to create a situation of a challenge and/or a situation of an opportunity for the offensive line to prove themselves and gain some confidence? And to give the offensive line time & opportunity to improve?

POSTED BY AARON JONES, SJSU 247 MESSAGE BOARD:
"The guy's (TU Coach) is not a genius, but credit should be given to the Tulsa Coach. He looked at the size of his players in comparison to ours, peeked at the numbers run up on the ground against Spartan defenses for the last 5 or 6 years, and then tried to run over us."

POSTED BY SEATTLE SPARTAN, SJSU 247 MESSAGE BOARD:
"The defense actually had several stops for no gain, or short gains on first and second downs, but we could never get off the field. We were bad in 3rd down situations."

"We were much smaller up front than I thought we were on the D line. We cannot be undersized in FBS. Tulsa had a tremendous advantage up front, and their coaching staff exploited it to perfection."

Is this our current offensive line? If so, it is really young with one redshirt freshman, three redshirt sophmores, and only one senior.

Left Tackle: Chris Ivy, RS/SR, 6-3, 296.
Left Guard: Chris Paul, RS/SOPH, 6-4, 302.
Center: Gerald Wheeler, RS/SOPH, 6-3, 325.
Right Guard: Dante Bivens, RS/SOPH, 6-3, 321.
Right Tackle: Gaudlin X'Zauvia, RS/FR, 6-4, 300.
(Tight End: Denzel Carter, Junior, 6-5, 275.)

Yes...that seemed to be the combo for most of the night. I do think James Palmer played a bunch but we ran almost every time when he was in the game. Hopefully that doesn't become a tip to the defense to key on who the blocking H-back/TE is.

The heat that melts butter also makes iron. If Tulsa offensive lineman can get their offensive line team together, maybe running into the buzzsaw and crucible that was the Michigan State defensive line may have been a very positive thing in the sense weaknesses were exposed and expectations set of what is needed to be done as an offensive line and as individuals. If the offensive line can come together, this team could be surprisingly strong.

Good grief! Palmer is 6-3 and up to 250!
