Injury Report

Looks like Jeremy Brady is back in the starting lineup this week. Still no news on Hill!
No news is good news with Gary Gnu.

If there hasn't been any news then they haven't ruled him out for the rest of the season...yet. From seeing the injury and my own personal experiences with torn ACLs, his injury wasn't only an ACL if he tore the ACL at all. He likely tore his meniscus as well or pinched the meniscus. We may be looking at a Rob Gronkowski type of injury from last year where the knee hyper-extended some and bruised the bone. Honestly, any AT/ortho that is any good would be able to diagnose a torn ACL on the field and know within 15 seconds. Often MRIs confirm the damage and check the surrounding structures to see if there is anything else damaged.

Then again...TU could just be holding out until after this week and forcing ECU to prepare as if Hill were going to play.

They hadn't received the MRI to make an assessment as of a couple of days ago.

As I was saying, an AT or an ortho can make an ACL diagnosis (99.5% correctly) without an MRI. I know this because I doubted my ortho's diagnosis after he bent my knee sideways twice and said "99.5% certain you tore your ACL". I requested an MRI because how is it possible to diagnose an internal injury like that without seeing the picture. I didn't doubt him the 2nd time I tore an ACL. He sent me for an MRI to see if the meniscus was damaged. He was dead on both times. (Second time, I knew I had torn my ACL...you don't ever forget that pop and what it means).

They won't make a public statement until they have an MRI for evaluation, regardless of how accurate the doctors assessment can or can't be.

By chance was your doctor from Boston?

Where didn't they send the picture for development?? Australia by boat?
The pictures themselves are pretty much instantaneously available. However, the report from the ortho specialist who reads and interprets what they say takes a little longer.

Actually, Tulsa Bone and Joint here in Tulsa. Two ACLs, a reconstructed wrist from a fracture, a reconstructed rotator cuff, and then a clean-up knee surgery. I asked if there was a buy 4 surgeries get the 5th free discount as part of a frequent buyers club :) He's good and I would recommend him to anyone who had an ortho issue.

This country is ridiculous when it comes to healthcare. It is 20 years behind the rest of the industrialized world. I booked an MRI in Thailand. They saw me three hours later. By the time I was dressed, a Harvard medical school doctor had read the MRI. We talked about surgery options for about a half hour. Total cost with no insurance, $162.00

My co-pay for the MRI was $100

That's probably two years pay in Thailand.

Ok, I was a little off. Current average pay in Thailand is about $380/month or about 10% of the US average. At $1600 equivalent that's still a deal but not the bargain basement deal it sounds like without perspective unless you're a rich foreigner.

I talked to one of the student trainers and asked about Hill and Whitfield. She said Whitfield will be back soon but not Hill.

Whitfield soon, as in today or maybe next week? Anything about surgery for Hill?
