Conference.

This conference is the best thing that has happened to Tulsa sports in forever.

Both football and basketball it has the feel of a major.

So glad and honored that we got the invite a few years back.

GO TU!!!!

I get so p'od when the Tulsa World OSU beat writer continually refers to mid majors when discussing any team outside of the "Power 5" in football. It is so ridiculous to use this verbiage in basketball stories - the no. 1 AP team is Villanova, which is not P5 because the Big East is a basketball only league.

totally agree that the American is such a step up. TU would never be in NCAA at large discussion with 8 losses in the CUSA or WAC.

Back when OU/OSU were in the "Big 8" that kind of biased reporting was known as "BIG-EIGHT-TREE" - a play on words.

Yep, it's great.

The path to here all started with the late 90s administration, athletically and academically.

Yeah, the Big East is certainly not a P5 conference in the traditional sense, but at one point this season Villanova, Providence, Xavier, & Butler were all top 20 teams and most all encroached on the top 10 at one point. The Big East is close to being equal of the Big XII in the basketball, and ratio based on number of teams, it may be.

Villanova, Wichita State, Valpo, Gonzaga, VCU, and SMU are "mid-majors."

Minnesota, Missouri, Washington State, and Penn State are "power schools."

Sure, that makes sense during basketball season.

Minnesota, Missouri, Washington state, and Penn state, aren't even power schools in football. The just happen to be a member of a so called p5 conference
