Can the Head Coach call time out during an inbounds play? If so, why didn't he. It just about cost his team the game.

Years ago, the inbounding team was only allowed to call time during the first 3 seconds of the 5 count. I think that rule was changed at least 30 years ago though.

Other than that, nice win.

I had to look up the rule. It's the NBA where only the players on the court can call a timeout.

In college and high school, either a player or the head coach can call a timeout when their team is in control of the ball, including throw-ins.

Good it did seem short but it also seemed that Shaq got the TO in before the whistle. There used to be a rule that you could not be granted a TO after the 4 count but I don't know if that is still the case. The rule was also that you had a five count to get possession of the ball not just released from the inbounded hand (which is he current rule). Any case, it would have been extremely difficult for Haith to call TO because he was on the other end of the court.
