There needs to be accountability for some of these players on the offensive side - and they are not the line or the receivers.

3rd and short. ALWAYS run up the middle. How about a playaction? How about some creativity on offense? This offense is more predictable than Blankenship's. I realize we have some talent issues, but the play calling has been atrocious. Garret and Atkinson are our top players. Get them the ball on a routine basis.

Was thinking the same thing. Dane needs to sit for the second half. He's only completed 4 decent passes in one half of football. Put Calgani in.

Evans is not the issue. He is being put in situations where the defense knows exactly what is coming. Look back to OU game, what'd you think about Evans then? We were aggressive in our play calling that game, slants, deep posts, fade routes...we go run, run, pass now. That last drive of the half we moved it because we were aggressive, it stalled but we got some first downs

Don't apologize for Dane. He's terrible. Widee open receivers missed and mis-reads. He's a terrible QB. Move him to TE. Coach Monty's offense is bad. The play calling is predictable. And from the recruiting to date, this train wrecj will continue for the foreseeable future.

agreed. might as well have BB back if this is the offense we're going to be running. Dane sucks. No dual threat at all. he has zero accuracy. he throws a good pass 20% of the time. so many bad throws. can't read the field. our defense has allowed NINE MOTHEREFFING POINTS today. the 2 TDs for ECU are on Dane and Langer. No terrible pick 6 and hanging onto the ball = 9 points for them. It could be 9-7 right now if dane didn't telegraph a pass in the 1st quarter. he's missed wide open guys that could have been TDs. If dane was average, we could be up 14-9 right now. but he's bad.

Yeah, makes you wonder how this team can look so different from week-to-week. Good teams are consistent. We're not there yet.

We've seen the best from Dane. It's time to start working on someone else for the future. He has never learned that if you throw a sideline route out of bounds and the receiver catches it....IT DOESN'T COUNT! Geez, I'm sick of watching him do that.
Montgomery had better figure out that there are other players on the sideline who can help this team. He is so determined that his evaluation from practices is all he needs to see. His "leaders" on both sides of the ball are not getting it done.

Wouldn't mind seeing Rubley in there, or even President now that we've torched his red shirt. You're right about Dane. He's got a good attitude, but a weak arsenal of ability.

President will be used more often now. He'll give defenses another weapon to prepare for. Only pass was the one that got batted down. From what I've read preseason, he needs more work in the passing department before he'll be ready to take over. Nonetheless, very excited for his future here.

Doesn't matter who our QB is if we can't fix our O - Line issues. Evans was sacked 4-5 times and hurried on several more. Belcher injury hurt. Looking forward to having Rowdy Frederick.

I hate to say it but I just can't watch it anymore. This isn't on the coaches. Our defense doesn't have a ton of talent but they played good enough to win. I will not mention names on offense but we have a couple who have actually regressed. I gotta believe that Montgomery realizes he's got some guys on the field he can't win with. We will win 4, maybe five this year. Maybe six if we get incredibly lucky. I guess that's okay. Just hard for me to say this as a former player - but I'm looking forward to basketball season.

Problem is poor decision making - offense.
We could have the Memphis QB behind that line and TU would not fare much better. Do you see any Brian DeShanes,Trent Dupys or Mark Romines out there? Not even close. You would need some pixie dust to be effective behind that O-Line. The competition is getting stronger and the warts are showing.

4 wins max (maybe 5). Improvement is there from last year, but we are still a below average team.

Most of our OL will end up being better than those guys. The attrition between guys like Boyd leaving and injuries leaves us with some young guys playing up front, but they will be good. As lawpoke likes to say OL/DL are rarely ready to play in year 1 and 2. The freshmen are going to get whipped by experienced DL from time to time, but I think Miller and Wright have held up pretty well all things considered.

Keep it coming everyone. This is the best free entertainment on the Internet

IMO the team is light years ahead of last year's team. We have lost 3 games to 2 top 25 teams and a solid ECU team that beat Virgina Tech. Have a little bit of faith and don't get so down on the team and the coaching staff. We still have a good chance to become bowl eligible and I wouldn't be surprised if we pulled out an upset along the way.

You idiots who are blaming Montgomery make me laugh. We had talent and coaching that won 5 GAMES IN 2 YEARS IN CUSA, get over yourselves and let the guy build. Ridiculous.

This^ We haven't been completely blown out of a game yet. The defense is light years ahead of last year with pretty much the same crew on the field. I am a little disappointed by the seeming predictability of the play calling but that is what the defense is showing meaning other teams think they can beat our OL if we do run play action. There's a part of me that wonders if Dane has the option of audibling to a different play based on what look the D gives. Monty is not Graham and isn't going to throw him under the bus on that.

Look at the guys coming in next year...majority of recruiting has been fast DBs, fast LBs, and some big 'ole country boys for the OL....all needs. I have no doubt we are going in the right direction and anyone who thought Monty was coming in and we'd be 2010 good again is living in the Land of Delusions.

The team didn't play well, but this is a team that was way down after last year. We have new coaches with new schemes trying to change our teams' attitude. It's going to take time. Coming into the the season, I bet everyone on here thought there would be some bumpy patches ahead for our team. And that's where we are at. When our offense is clicking we looks light years better, but we are inconsistent which is to be expected. Our defense basically only gave up 3 points in the second half, which most of us would have considered a minor miracle. If this team continues to improve, gets more consistent on both sides of the ball, and the coaching staff continues finding their footing, we will be much improved by the end of the season.

Coach is absolutely out recruiting and hanging tough on some really good talent.

Defense is actually improved with guys that work their tails off to make plays. What they are doing is crazy good with whom they are doing it with. I'm not try degrade the kids playing at all. They are just playing positions that are not necessarily their strengths in some cases and they are in a position to be effective most of the time.

As far as offense, I've said this in previous weeks, Dane seems to lock down constantly on one target and if they don't get open quickly its katy bar the door because the defense has had time to break down the pocket. It's obvious he lacks the ability at this level to consistently get anywhere outside the pocket. It's not his fault he a pro-style guy, he just doesn't seem to have the opportunity or ability to survey multiple targets. It's frustrating to the fans (at least for me) because from our (my) vantage point we can see other progressions running wide open down the field but he is locked on a fairly well covered receiver.

The play calling has been very conservative and there is definitely a reason for it. This is complete speculation on my part but opening up the offense may be more detrimental at this point. I think it may be driven by trying to limit the 3 and outs and allowing some ability to allow the defense to rest, I really do not know just speculation on my part.

I do agree on the road you face adversity and previously we seemed to face it and make progress in spite of it. For some reason, after the pick six on the offensive side there was no recovery, last season we were accustomed to seeing this week in and week out. I have a feeling that will not continue without some changes or at least without a positive response from this staff.

That was true last year. Doubt montgomery believes in doing that.

Dane seems to have regressed since the first couple of games to start the season. Injury has some say in that, but a lot of it is just Dane having problems. Defenses have figured out how to limit Tulsa's offense and make it one dimensional. Dane can't take a hit and just forget about him running the ball.

As soon as Dane starts slapping his hands together after plays in frustration, you know he's going to have a craptastic day. He's a Jekyll & Hyde player from week to week, and in some cases, series to series.

That is so annoying to watch as a fan. "Aw shucks, hopefully it works out better next time." is the feeling I get he's saying to himself when he throws a wounded duck or misses an out route by 10 yards out of bounds or over the WR head. Again, if he's the best we have at QB with the other 5 or 6 guys on the roster...we're in for a rough 2-3 more years at least.

It really is! Coach should use that as a harbinger for a L and put in President at that point.

TUGrad06 just responded to his own post then on top of that....liked his response to his own post. Guess he enjoys talking to himself.
