THE GAME

• This is the 132nd meeting between Tulsa and Wichita State and the 6th as American Athletic Conference members... it's the longest series in Tulsa history ahead of Drake (119 games) and Oklahoma State (131).

• Wichita State is 22-8 on the season ... the Shockers come into Sunday's match-up off of a 68-60 loss at Memphis ... Wichita State has key non-conference wins over Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss and VCU.

• This will be the second of two meetings between Tulsa and Wichita State this season, as the Hurricane defeated the Shockers 54-51 in the Reynolds Center on Feb. 1.

• The Shockers enter the game 10-7 in the American Athletic Conference, while Tulsa is 13-4 in conference play.

THE SERIES

• Wichita State holds the series advantage at 69-62 ... the Hurricane is 36-29 at home against the Shockers, 23-39 on the road and 3-1 in neutral site games.

• The Tulsa-Wihita State series is the longest in school history for Tulsa … both teams were long-time members of the Missouri Valley Conference.

• The Shockers have won 13 of the last 15 contests in the series ... prior to Wichita State's streak, Tulsa defeated the Shockers in13 straight contests.

• Tulsa's last meeting against Wichita State came on Feb. 1, 2020 as the Hurricane captured a 54-51 on a buzzer beater by Elijah Joiner in the Reynolds Center.

• The first game in the series came in the 1930-31 season as Tulsa defeated the Shockers 32-30 in Wichita.

LAST SECOND HEROICS DOWN #23 WICHITA STATE

• Tulsa defeated No. 23 Wichita State 54-51 with a last second three-pointer by Elijah Joiner on Saturday, Feb. 1.

• Tulsa forced a shot clock violation by the Shockers with 0:03.3 remaining, thus giving the Hurricane one last chance in regulation to break the tie ... Joiner took the inbounds pass from Brandon Rachal near the top of the key, and with one 10th of a second left on the game clock Joiner launched the game-winner from 25 feet.

• Joiner ended the game with a career-high 22 points, along with a career-best five 3-pointers made ... Martins Igbanu was the only other Tulsa player in double-digits with 10 points.

• Tulsa held the Shockers to 34.5-percent from the field and 19.4 from behind the arc.

• Trailing 14-7, the Hurricane went on a 12-4 run to take a 19-18 lead on a Joiner 3-pointer with 3:43 left in the first half … Tulsa would lead by 2 points at 22-20 on a Joiner 3-pointer before the Shockers closed out the half on a 9-1 run and went into intermission ahead 29-23.

LAST ROAD GAME AGAINST WICHITA STATE

• Tulsa traveled to Wichita, Kan. to face the Shockers on Feb. 2, 2019 in a conference road game ... falling 79-68 in the end.

• Jeriah Horne led Tulsa with 16 points going 6-of-10 from the field and pulling down a team-high 6 rebounds for the Hurricane ... Curran Scott added 11 points, Darien Jackson and DaQuan Jeffries each contributed 10 points.

• Tulsa held the lead through the first 10 minutes thanks, in part, to a strong showing from the 3-point line early ... Jeffries got the Hurricane started with a trey before Scott hit two of his three first-half triples as the visitors led by as much as 16-11 ... Tulsa shot 53.2-percent from the field for the game, but turned it over 18 times

• Tulsa erased a four-point halftime deficit by hitting seven of its first eight shots, including three buckets from Jackson during 9-0 Hurricane run that reclaimed a 60-52 advantage with 10:55 to play.

• Wichita State went on a late 17-4 run to pull away for a 79-68 victory ... shooting 45-percent and scoring 24 points off of Hurricane turnovers.

• Markis McDuffie had a game-high 27 points on 11-of-20 shooting for the Shockers ... Jaime Echenique scored 16 points and Dexter Dennis came off the bench to chip in with 11 points

SCOUTING THE SHOCKERS

• Wichita State was picked to finish 4th in the American Athletic Conference ... the Shockers finished last season with a record of 22-15, 10-8 in conference play and made it to the NIT FInal Four.

• Wichita State is coached by Gregg Marshall, who is in his 13th season with the program.

• The Shockers are 10-6 in conference play and 22-8 overall.

• Three Shockers score 10+ points a game, Erik Stevenson (11.2), Jaime Echenique (11.2) and Jamarius Burton (10.1).

• Stevenson has been named AAC Player of the Week twice, first on Dec. 16 then on Jan. 6 ... Tyson Etienne and Grant Sherfield both have been named Freshman of the Week this season ... Jamarius Burton, Dexter Dennis, Erik Stevenson and Jaime Echenique have all been selected to the AAC weekly honor roll.

A TULSA WIN WOULD

• Give Tulsa their 63rd win against Wichita State in series history, and give the Hurricane a 24-39 record against the Shockers in Wichita.

• Give the Hurricane their 22nd win of the season ... it would be the first 22-win season since the Hurricane won 23 games in Frank Haith's first year as the Tulsa head coach in 2014-15.

• Give Tulsa a 14-4 record in AAC play, the most since Tulsa won 14 games as a first-year AAC member in 2014-15.

• Will give Tulsa a 7-6 road record this season, while improve Tulsa's AAC road record to 6-3.

20 WINS

• Tulsa has turned in its 3rd 20+ win season in Frank Haith's 6 years at the helm of the basketball program.

• In school history, the 21 wins gives Tulsa 24 seasons of 20+ wins, with 23 of those coming in the last 39 seasons.

• Before NCAA or NIT play began in previous years, Tulsa had won 20+ games 23 times and had received an invitation to the NCAA or NIT Championships in all but two years, including in 2006-07 with a 20-11 record and in 2007-08 when Tulsa finished at 25-14 with 5 of those wins coming en route to winning the CBI Championship.

• With at least a share of the AAC title, Tulsa has now won or shared 11 league titles in school history with 10 coming in the last 36 seasons.

THE SENIORS

• Tulsa's 2 seniors, Martins Igbanu and Lawson Korita, have been a part of 73 wins in their Tulsa careers, while also helping the Hurricane win 41 American Athletic Conference contests.

• Igbanu has been a force for the Hurricane in his four years of action ... he currently ranks 21st all-time in scoring with 1,290 points and also 21st on the school's career rebounding list with 621.

• Igbanu this season is averaging 13.4 points and 5.1 rebounds, while shooting 56-percent from the field and 70-percent from the free throw line.

• Korita has started 23 games this season, the second most on the team, scoring 7.1 points and has pulled down 2.8 rebounds ... in 6 of the last 8 games, he has scored in double digits, including a career-high 20 points vs. UCF.
