Haith Has Resigned

I'm saying when we lost, Nolan, Tubby and Bill, we wanted to keep all three.
Those were taken away by bigger schools with bigger payouts. We are talking about getting someone in to a small private school that pays less than the rest of the members of the conference with an athletic department that is in a financial hole.

We are not going to pull someone that they want to keep we are going to pull the best person that wants the job.

They changed the rule on LOIs a few years ago. In the distant past if you signed you had to attend or sit out a year. Now if the coach you signed with leaves you can get out of the LOI and sign with another school. I’m hoping our new coach rerecruits him.

I agree.
You're misunderstanding what I was trying say. It's all good.

Hard to "Decommit" when you've signed a letter of intent.
Kinda like telling the commanding officer you have changed your mind about going to Vietnam after signing up.

As of December 2021 here is the answer given by the official LOI NCAA page:

Question: Is an NLI binding if the coach of my sport leaves the institution? NCAA Answer : Yes. The NLI you signed with an institution remains binding if the coach who recruited you leaves the institution with which you signed. When you sign a NLI you sign with an institution and not with a coach or specific team.

(My comments) - Most every AD will give a release if the coach leaves, but it must be asked for with a specific NLI Release form and be signed by the institution. The athlete then may sign another NLI with another school.

I hope the area coaches remind their players how haith and his staff seldom recruited area players during his time at TU.

There was no relationship with area coaches when he was here, and those guys tend to remember, so I wouldn't imagine he'd be very welcome. He didn't have the relationship Burns did, but it certainly wasn't good either.

Haith is recruiting Tulsa area players
This further demonstrates just how low we have sunk in local kids/coaches perception.

Our former coach couldnt get in the door with these kids when he was associated with TU, but, a logo change and he is in and getting commits.

As far as I know, no Memphis coach has a verbal commit for any player, much less Haith and a Tulsa regional recruit. Unless you say you are a fortune telling swami.

What’s funny is a lot of Memphis fans think Haith was the main reason we had a decent year in 2020. When in reality it was Wainwright

They should have wadded up a big ball of cash to get Wainwright in Memphis. He might of turned them down though. Little do they know how little of 2020 was Haith's doing. They'll find out. Would love to see them start with a whole new team this year, and fall flat on their face.

He didn't try to get in the door of the majority of Tulsa area products when he was associated with TU. A change in schools and position that requires him to knock on doors is the difference.
