Currently is the Team leader in rebounds at 9.8 per game and Blocks at 1.5 per game. He is also the second leading scorer for this team. Currently McNeese is 17-2 with wins over UAB, Michigan and everyone’s favorite Lamar. The two losses are to Western Carolina and Louisiana Tech. The team is currently on a 12 game winning streak and currently have a 2 game lead in the Southland conference. On the season so far Shumate is shooting 54 percent from the field (93-173), 25 percent from 3 point range (6-24), and 44 percent from the line (38-86). He does have 186 rebounds to date. He has dropped in production from last season.

Tulsa Men got their first road win of the season knocking off Rice after squandering a 14 point lead late in the game. This is their first road win since Feb 19, 2022 when they beat South Florida. That was a 707 day drought. The men have Wichita State at home on the 31st. Tulsa Women beat Charlotte on the road 65-55 to go to 16-5 on the season and 6-2 in the American. The women are in 3rd place a half game behind North Texas and UAB.

Was looking at the Conference tournament this year since we are at 14 teams. They have added an extra day to the conference tournament with pretty much a play in game on Wednesday. So Wednesday, March 13th, Number 13 will play Number 12 at 12:00 p.m. and then Number 14 will play Number 11 at 2:00 p.m. or 20 minutes after the conclusion of the previous game whichever is later. Then they will go into the 12-team format with the top 4 having byes. So pretty much we need to stay out of the bottom 4 to guarantee we play on Thursday. As of today, Game 1 would be Rice vs Temple and Game 2 would be Wichita State vs UTSA. Tulsa would face UAB for Game 5 at 6 p.m. Thursday. I will put the full Schedule below with the current standings.

North Texas looks like they're going to go into halftime b the lead vs FAU. I can't say North Texas is really good but they're a team no one wants to play ever. They're a tough team. They play hard nosed defense and they get after the boards like their lives depended on it. They remind me a bit of Robinson's teams and Self's 1st 2 teams. You always knew you were going to get a 100% defensive effort from those teams and the only question was whether or not they could score enough in a particular game.

I watched the Wichita State vs SMU game yesterday. Wichita State won at home against SMU.
Wichita State did not look like a last place team.

UAB beats Memphis 97-88

The old bromide about first year JUCOs maturing by the second semester must
have some merit...We are experiencing that with Garcia, and we see the score
above..

Remembering that UAB recruited (actually bought) 3 of the top eight JUCOs in
this last recruiting class makes that outcome more understandable...The AAC is
a crazy (per Disnid) and hard conference to predict right now...Also a lot of fun..

If TU does a good job of recruiting and retention this off season, we just might
be able to surprise some folks ourselves...I guess in this portal/NIL era, one of
your hardest recruiting jobs is retaining your own team season to season...

Memphis is showing again how poor of a coach Penny is. It's pretty inexcusable for them to be losing like they are with that talent alone...not sure how patient they'll continue to be with him.

I'm not sure it's going to be as toasty as people think. We're talking Memphis legend, maybe the best player of all time there. He brings fans and sponsorships and draws NIL money to get players. Who are they going to get with that type of cache? Yeah, they're unhappy they're not the #1 team in the country but Penny is always going to get top line players and he's going to poach the top players at other schools.
