What’s our bump from this game? And apparently we’ve turned the college basketball world on its head with this result.

Probably like 10-15. It was at home so that gives less of a return. Memphis will fall about 10.

66 is just off the bubble but still in the convo. Eliminate 2 stupid early season losses to crap teams and we’re sitting at 15-4, probably ranked next week and somewhere around 40 in the NET.

I really feel if we can go to Storrs on Sunday and beat up on UConn (if we play like we have been the last 3 games) then I am pretty sure our names will be listed as a bubble team on Lunardi's next bracket.

And why not? To show the lack of respect for our program yet again?
The 19 point jump surprised me. People were predicting 10-15, which was about like the last big jump we had for a home win, and that wouldn’t have been enough to jump SMU. I’m glad we did, now we just need to beat them when they come in later this season. Next though we need to take care of business in Connecticut.

I'll just take this moment to say that I am really really glad to be having plausible bubble scenarios being discussed. Around Christmas, I thought they were DOA for reputable postseason. I thought even the NIT might be a stretch unless they starting playing more consistently, and quickly.

Maybe Memphis looked past us on their schedule and came out unprepared. Even if that is the case it doesn't fully explain a 40 point loss, and I think TU proved last night that they can play with nearly anyone when they are focused. And they had better stay focused because nobody is going to look past us again this season.

If Haith can do that and get them to consistently look even half as good as we did last night, then they should be in a decent position in March. I hope that happens, I like Haith and want him to succeed. Some nights the shots just won't fall, but I can forgive that if we develop some confidence and consistency.

Memphis had a terrible nigh offensively, but a lot of that had to do with TU's defensive philosophy. We simply pushed an avg. to poor outside shooting team, outside. Even when Memphis got the ball in the lane, they had trouble getting off good shots. You could tell we frustrated the hell out of Precious by quickly closing the lane down and eliminating the slip passes to the cutters. We intentionally left Quinones open in those situations (I'm not sure what anyone sees in his play. Average player at best. Athletic, good handle. Poor passer, awful shooter, terrible decision maker.) Their bigs couldn't create space underneath, they couldn't move Igbanu on either end. Even if Memphis has an avg. shooting night, we still win the game by 20.

The only thing that sucks is this game is among the most talked about college basketball stories from yesterday but almost all of that talk is focused on how bad Memphis was versus how good we were.
