GAMEDAY!!

TU Men are hosting the SMOOOO at home today. The two bottom teams in the conference going back at it. Tulsa got rode out of the gym in Dallas. Hopefully we see the growth and we can run them out of our gym.

Women won a road game at Temple and because it was so close at the end during a bad second half the women dropped a spot in the NET Rankings. Memphis, Tulane and South Florida are the only teams ahead of the women in the NET. The women play Tulane Saturday and then host USF on Wednesday. This is an important week for the women.

Todays games

Two other American games today and Bedlam tonight when Oklahoma travels to Stoolwater.

And One

Antoine Davis of Detroit Mercy set the NCAA record for 3 pointers, hitting 11 3 pointers in a game to get him to 513 for a career eclipsing the 509 set by Fletcher Magee of Wofford. Davis was 5-14 against Tulsa from 3 but was the second highest scorer in that game at 23 points behind Gerald Liddell with 27 points.

GO TU!!!!

Man Tulsa at #290. That's hard to believe. Dreaming of better days ahead!!!!

GO TU!!!

One of a handful of winnable games on our schedule. Gut feeling we get our first conference win tonight.

Welcome to the day of frustration! Tulsa should have won that game yesterday. Even at the end we got the steal but SGC did not get a good look at the rim when he threw up that shot. This team has improved a lot over the last few games. Turnovers is what killed us yesterday. Shooting 60 percent will get you a win but not when you also have 20 turnovers. If they keep improving over the next few weeks then we will be a tough team come conference tourney time.

In other games

Cincinnati dismantles USF 85-69 and Temple beat down ECU 73-58.
In Bedlam Oklahoma State took care of Oklahoma 72-56

Todays games

One conference game today and that is Wichita State at Memphis. We will see both these teams within the next 5 games.

And One

The best all around player we have on this team is Bryant Selebangue. Tulsa Hop posted something yesterday stating that Across all of basketball there is only one player to make at least 11 2-pt FG with atleast 14 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal and fewer than 2 turnovers. This is the type of production that Selebangue does. He is also our most improved player over the year so far as well.

GO TU!!!!

I'm here to discuss the women's team who narrowly escaped Houston last week and it looked like the ladies may have slacked some. BUT, last night USF narrowly escaped Houston by a bucket so maybe Houston is a lot better than their OOC record indicated and it's actually a good win. TU is now 14-3 overall. Good stuff for them. (With the win vs Temple they may be up to 15-3 now). Time to keep building for postseason play.

It’s going to be interesting to see if the women have to win the post season tourney to get an NCAA invite. Current NET is 80. Time to ramp up our OOC scheduling.

Thanks. I followed the Temple game...the ladies really need to figure out how to finish games out in the 3rd and 4th quarter. I don't know if Coach Nelp played some of the reserves a bit more because of the big lead but when I started following they were up 24 and the final margin was 12. Need to finish out games strong against the mediocre opponents so when you have the really good opponents on the rope, you can win the game (Kansas, USF last season).

I understand the scheduling this year...win games and learn to win games, which is something this team sorely needed. Nelp is adding so good talent so you can start playing tougher OOC schedules. I think just playing the AAC schedule will help them move up a bit, but they have to win games and can't drop a stupid one.

I love the enthusiasm, but this team won't be a tough out at any point for any team with a pulse.

Next year needs to hurry up and get here.

I think injuries have made the lineup younger this year for Nelp’s team. She has done a great job getting the younger players in game situations which should benefit down the stretch.

I hope the men’s team schedules like this next year and goes all out OOC the following year.

Yesterday LMU beat Gonzaga by 1 on the road. Ric beat North Texas on the road by 12 and both teams took large changes in their NET.

Todays games

No games of note from what I am tracking.

And One

Starting tomorrow we have 12 regular season games left. How many games will we play in the conference tourney is up in the air. Neutral court changes a lot of things. until they are eliminated I will always have hope. We are playing games closer so who knows.

The Ladies have 11 games left. Memphis, Tulane and South Florida are ahead of them in the NET. They play 1 game against USF and Memphis and 2 games against Tulane, the first of which is tomorrow. With an 80 NET they are looking a the NIT right now. At this point in the season last year (11 games left) they were 13-3 overall and 3-2 in conference. They had 2 games cancelled and 2 games postponed at this point. The last 11 games they went 3-7 and 1 cancelled.

Holy crap, I guess I didn't realize FAU was that good
Their only loss was to Ole Miss by 13 on the road. They did beat Florida but the rest of their schedule isnt very impressive. What is impressive is until they got to conference play they have beat almost all of the team by 20 points or more. They are very efficient

Sometimes the stories write themselves. 🤣🤣🤣

In the 70’s Tony Peters was a defensive star at OU. He had to miss a game and one of the newspaper headlines was “OU plays with Peters out” 🤣

We could have, and probably should have, won the previous two but kept shooting ourselves in the foot. We tried again tonight but Tulane couldn’t take advantage. If we can limit the self damage we could still put several in the win column.

We need to have a big sign for DeAndre Williams of Memphis wishing him a happy 27th birthday 🎂. That should be illegal. He actually was 26 in October and has played at Memphis about 5 years and Evansville about 3 years it seems. And he complains about every call.

We need to have a big sign for DeAndre Williams of Memphis wishing him a happy 27th birthday 🎂. That should be illegal. He actually was 26 in October and has played at Memphis about 5 years and Evansville about 3 years it seems. And he complains about every call.

I think he's got a year of eligibility left if he wants to take it!!! (Covid)
One more year to bring in his 27th before the season begins.

He's only been at Memphis 3 years. He took 4 years to play one year at Evansville, due to RS, Academic Ineligibility,(must have taken an extra year in high school for the same reason) and maybe for an injury.(Don't exactly know, on one of those years he didn't play at Evansville.) SMH
