Fire Frank Haith

Can we not have a new fire this coach thread every week. Just go down and post on one of the other 50 of them there are

Side note while we're thinking bout firing Haith...

Can't wait to see one or two players start to shine late in conference play.

Waiting on Ugboh, Earley, Shumate, &/or Urbancic battle to be the one or two players with that late season gleam.

If you are hurt I didn't put you on the list, then use that for motivation Alcime, Gendron, Seals...

I really think Shumate could be a valuable piece of the rotation but he’s just not getting enough of a run. You could have put him in Haywood’s spot last night (playing a small ball 4/5) during the second half and got the same or a better result.

Still want at least 4 or 5 min more of Idowu.

I have mixed feelings on him. He should absolutely be eating Ugboh's time because he's better, but he's too up and down in terms of rebounding ability and free throw shooting to really help the team. I like his passing from the post though.

Bottom line is, our best lineup last night looked to be one where Rachal and Haywood / Richie were playing the two forward spots in the zone and we had 3 guards (Embery, Jackson, Joiner / Williams) on the perimeter. We won't be able to play that against every single team on the schedule, but it's probably our most potent rotation in terms of offense and perimeter defense.

Interestingly, Darien Jackson was being put into switches guarding big men last night and more or less held his own.

They played small ball though, that's probably why Ugboh got 3 min. Haith has given 8 or 10 min to Ugboh pretty much every game that wasn't small ball. I'd like him to get 3 or 4 of Ugboh's minutes. Jackson won't be defending the bigs all the time when they are 6'10".

NCAA or bust
Nothing else matters much to me

great win
Awesome win

but if Tulsa doesn’t make the dance he needs to go

I hope Tulsa makes the dance

both of which were moronic to post.
While I don't necessarily agree with Monty's post, I wouldn't say it's moronic. His resume so far at TU has been less than stellar and one good season does not make a good coach. So I get why people still had that thread...However, Haith has a pretty impressive resume with TU so far and I do not understand the hate he gets. I understand he can get better at certain areas but I think he is a top 3 coach in the AAC.

Just not a top 3 recruiter.

He has move up a notch or two in recruiting the last couple of years though.

The AAC has suffered some coaching losses recently that make Haith look better than he is, but that doesn't make him any more successful in the grand scheme of things. The league losing Cronin to UCLA, Larry Brown to cheating, Greg Marshall to abuse, UCONN totally, and Fran Dunphy to retirement has definitely put a damper on those programs in comparison to what we were facing off against early in Haith's tenure, but that doesn't mean he's been improving our program tremendously from where he found it, just that the other programs haven't been performing as well as they were.

The problem with Haith's resume has been and will continue to be the fact that he doesn't sniff the NCAA's at the end of the season because he's always trying to retool the roster to start the season. He's a historically bad coach in a tournament setting as well (early or late season). In neutral site games he's something like 9-18 at Tulsa with a bad record at Mizzou as well. He's had regular season losses to bad ORU (x2) teams, SEOSU (DII), UALR (x2), Jacksonville St., Lamar, Illinois State (x3), Southern Illinois, UTSA, Arkansas State

There's a reason that teams like Houston, SMU, Cincy, and Memphis come to our place ranked... and it's because they take care of business early in the season. Right now, our program is bobbing up and down between a top 60 program and a top 150 program, and that's just not good enough.

I really don't care as much that we upset a good conference team now or then if it means that we cursed to never make March Madness. I just hope this has been a sign that he's turning things around... but the early season losses to middling TCU and South Carolina don't have me overly optimistic.

He's also yet to bring in player who's a legit contender for AAC POY.
