Former TU player, Kyle Blankenship, has led his team back the to NAIA Final Four for the 2nd time in 5 years. LSU Shreveport is 30-4 and ranked No. 3 in the nation. They will play in the Semifinals on Monday night in Kansas City.

There are some strong Oklahoma ties on the team with Blankenship and his best player, former Oklahoma Gatorade POY and OSU transfer Stevie Clark. Clark hit a game-winning 3 in the 2nd round and then dropped 34 in the Elite Eight! I believe the assistant at LSUS is also a Tulsa kid who played at BTW on state championship teams with Juwan Parker. Jason Parker and Blankenship were roommates at TU.

I know it’s small college, but they also beat a NCAA D1 team earlier this season. Their roster has a couple of other transfers who played at Illinois State (DJ Clayton) and UCONN (Rakim Lubin).

There hasn’t been a ton to celebrate with Tulsa Basketball recently, but we definitely have an alum who is doing some big things in the coaching ranks at the small college level.
