Ecu game thread

Haywood starting again. Haith has no interest in winning this year. Terrible start anyone surprised?

I expect we will see a ton of transfers and that Schumate will be high on that list.

First in off the bench KES. So Haith has no effort to change things despite all his talk after the Temple game.

WTF, Frank! Haywood? Starting? At least his uniform number is representative of his shooting percentage.

I just can’t believe that Haywood and KES have turned out to be such disappointments. There was so much hype around them and they just can’t play.

I’m sure that Toby gets his paperwork in on time. Other than that, he is useless.

Then you sit them. You don't continue to let them drive your team into the ground. Richie replaces the guy who left for Colorado, Williams replaced our freshman pg last year who went to fresno, Idowu for Igbanu. This is basically the same damn team that won the conference last year. The difference is KES and Haywood playing so bad it drags everything down.

That’s a little disrespectful to Igbanu. He was arguably the best player in the entire conference last year. Idowu has been excellent but he’s still not nearly as good as Igbanu was.

Watching KES wander around on defensive is hard sometimes. It's like watching a little kid learning to play zone.

He's an inside post player who is pretty automatic. His free throws need some work but otherwise, no there isn't that much difference between them. Igbanu wasn't even first team last year much less POY. Gardner, Vogt, Cumberland, Mills, were all easily better.

Haywood and KES have shot 27% and 22% from the field the last six games, 20% and 18% from three's.

Hard to win when you FG % is that low.

Haith indicated he was going to shake things up? Does that mean Urbancic and Shumate?

We shall see.

GO TU!!!!

This is somewhat true. Idowu gives us a little more in terms of rim defense and rebounding. Igbanu just didn’t have the hops but he did have the sweetest low post feet

More Richie and Idowu on the court together. I say this because Idowu is a terrific passer, especially to the weak side when the double comes. It gives Richie the open looks and when he’s hitting teams are just going to have to pick which poison they want to take

Tulsa is out rebounding 11 to 8 they need to keep it up on the glass and cut down on the turnovers

Shumate finally made it in the game. Unfortunately, zero is still in the game.

Hopefully you see seeing why shumate not getting more minutes yet

Not seeing that at all. Shumate and Urbanic should be getting more time. Zero and KES continue to underperform. Also, too many unforced turnovers.

Halftime assessment...

-Pretty good offense for this TU team. Idowu looks great...Richie hitting shots.

-Defense is atrocious. WIDE open threes. There were very few contested shots. Zero paint protection.

Assuming the defense doesn’t improve...
-Need to pray ECU misses shots
-Limit turnovers
-Get Rachal going

I just named four players better than him. I could continue if you want? I didn't even name anyone on Wichita St or UConn.

Igbanu was first team because of the role he played on the team and the lack of depth the American has in post. Its the same role Idowu has now played this game, since we have actually gone inside.

Igbanu was better his senior year, but while his footwork on offense was great, he had lead feet and didn't use his athleticism well on defense.

You have some fan glasses on right now.

I know nothing of basketball but it’s difficult for me to understand how this team fell apart

We have a guard who can't keep a player in front of him. Its forced help which has pulled interior players out of position opening up those just below the free throw line passes, which ECU has turned into buckets or kick out assists.

Austin Richie continues to make Haith look silly for not playing him. Rachal is much more under control because the offense is running smoother, notice he hasn't had foul trouble. Jackson missed the two true 3pts he took but he didn't hesitate and his form looked fine. As long as he does that and looks to drive he will be fine, after a shot or two like that the defense goes to default. The defender will run out at him opening up drives and passing lanes, because they have been taught to run out and with him naturally shooting the fundamental training will overrun the scouting report.

Cut out our turnovers (KES had two horrible ones, Eli had like four or five bad decisions) and this game is like a ten point lead.

Go look at the minutes, as Richie's minutes go up we play better, as they go down we get worked.

The defense has been atrocious. Gardner is their best player and yet he is getting open looks 6-8 ft from the basket. Again, pick your poison. I know Gardner can beat us...the question is, can anyone else from ECU beat us consistently? I’m hedging no, and making sure Gardner isn’t the one.
if I’m ECU, I’m doubling Idowu but leaving the man on Richie with Richie. Make any of the other 3 players on the court beat them From outside. Hell, if I’m Dooley I’m trying to leave Haywood and KES wide open in those situations because neither of them has shown the ability to consistently hit from outside.

I kinda like having the homer announcers for these road games. They're completely in the tank for ECU, but you can tell they're real fans of the team

And brandon with at least 3 bad decisions
