Deneric Prince

Steal of the draft despite not being drafted? Anyone know why he wasn't drafted? It's sort of crazy to think that he had one of the better combines for all RBs, had the size, speed, etc. for people to see and no one wanted to take a chance with a late round pick on him? Seems like KC got an absolute steal and Deneric also lands with a team at the top right now and probably not a whole lot of pressure to produce right away and has time to develop in the right system.

It's a TU takeover in the league right now.

BTW, Trevis had 5 tackles, 3 solo, and 1 sack in the Bears preseason game yesterday. My guess is that was in a quarter or half of action.

They had Chris Paul starting at left tackle against the Browns

Part of the answer for Prince is that the NFL has vastly decreased the perceived value of all RBs over the last decade or two. The change of NFL offenses to pass first is the obvious reason. Still, for older fans who remember the glory years for RBs, the degree of the change is surprising.

He’s barely played, they seem to be playing RBs that’ll likely be cut within the next couple of weeks.

This is weird. Here's my completely unresearched speculation - teams don't invest much in RBs, including scouting them. There were only 18 RBs taken in the draft and 15 were from P5 schools. Only 3 from other schools, and 2 of those were in the 7th round. A P5 RB is a safe pick for a GM, and then you know you can experiment with UFAs. Anyway, that's my $0.02.

His RCs have blown up on ebay recently if that means anything. His numbered limited cards are selling really well. What's surprising is how well the non-numbered cards are selling.

I watched in the late second quarter and early third and Prince was out there for most offensive plays.

I watched he didn’t have much luck on his two kickoff returns but I thought he looked good carrying the ball. He needs to be more effective in next exhibition to make the team

I am sure they take into account all the work in practice as well....and sounds like he has done well there. He is looking very quick, that is for sure....

Hopefully he at least catches on to a practice squad. There will be opportunities to get signed during the season with injuries and disappointing play of others.

He was playing with the second team no?

I would suspect that means he has a leg up to make the roster.
Yes, he was. Most of the PT on offense yesterday were 4th and 5th-string RBs and 3rd and 4th-string QBs.

He returned kicks with the starters. He played RB with the second- and third-teamers

I’m not liking Prince’s chances of sticking around and making the 53 man roster. He’s been moved to 5th string at RB.

He can always be cut and put on the practice squad and then possibly picked up from that practice squad. If you get put on the PS then they atleast think you have enough talent to do something in the future or with another team.

Yep but it is a big step down in money for the guy!

I think they find a way for him to stick. There's been way too much positive talk from the Chiefs staff to believe that he doesn't at least earn a spot on the PS. They talk about his talent, intangibles, and potential like kids in a candy store. Potential will at least keep him on for a full cycle to see if they can tap it.

In this final preseason game he has had 3 kick off returns in the first half so far and the longest was 22 yards. If he gets on this roster it will be special teams

He is in the backfield now and made a couple of nice blocks in pass protection.

With it being the final preseason game he will likely get a lot of carries. I think he’ll end up on a roster but not sure it’ll be with the Chiefs

He's not on their cut list yet. I would be surprised if someone else doesn't claim him before he gets back around to the Chiefs. Also cut today was Tyon Davis who was in camp with the Rams and apparently made it to the end of camp. Chris Paul is sticking in Washington. I would assume Trevis and Tyler Smith will survive in Chicago and Dallas respectively. Anyone else in camps that we know of with TU ties?
