All-Star event held at Minneapolis’ Target Center to air live on ESPN on April 4
CHICAGO –Tulsa’s DaQuan Jeffries has been selected to the Great Clips Slam Dunk Championship roster for the 31st annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships at Minneapolis’ Target Center on Thursday, April 4, Intersport announced today. Jeffries is one of eight men’s college basketball players selected for the event that will air live on ESPN at 8 p.m. CT. He was invited to take part in the Great Clips Slam Dunk Championship after being recognized as one of the nation’s most athletic dunkers.
Jeffries was the leading scorer for the Golden Hurricane this season and earned third-team American Athletic Conference honors. The Edmond, Okla., native wowed the Tulsa faithful during his two seasons at the Reynolds Center with highlight-worthy dunks that were routinely featured on the Sportscenter Top 10, including the No. 1 spot on the countdown after a dunk against Houston on Jan. 27.

Intersport, producers of the event, invites 24 of the nation’s elite men’s and women’s college basketball players to compete in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships (eight dunkers, along with eight men’s and eight women’s shooters). The program showcases the dunking and sharp-shooting talents of the nation’s top college basketball players during the Men’s and Women’s 3-Point Shooting Championships, the Reese’s Puffs Battle of the Champions, the Great Clips Slam Dunk Championship and the Applebee’s Team Shootout.
A complete roster of participants will be released at a later date.
Over the last 30 years, several of the top players in college basketball have competed in the College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships including: Gary Payton, Steve Nash, Jason Terry, Kyle Korver, Bobby Hurley, Michael Finley, Allan Houston, Wesley Matthews, Yogi Ferrell, Cappie Pondexter, Katie Gearlds, Kristi Toliver, Tiffany Hayes and Ariel Atkins.
