Instead of picking apart Dane's game looking down the depth chart for someone to replace him, take a look at his stats.

http://espn.go.com/college-football.../passing/sort/passingYards/year/2015/group/80

  • Dane is 6th in the nation in total yards; ahead of Lynch at 12th, Russell (Baylor) 15th and Mayfield at 16th.
  • QB rating Dane is 22th 151.6; behind Russell 1st 189.7, Mayfield 3rd 179.1, Lynch 5th 175.7 and Ward JR. 10th 165.4.
  • TDs Dane is tied for 20th 15; behind Russell 1st 29, Mayfield 6th 21 and Lynch tied for 15th with 17.
  • INTs Dane is tied for 55th with 5 ahead of Russell 44th with 6.
  • Sacks Dane is tied for 4th with 24.
  • Last year Dane was 37th in yards with a QB rating of 120.9
Dane is a gunslinger with limited time to get rid of the ball with an average at best line. He is far from perfect but keeping in mind how far he as come in a couple of years, we are a much better team with Dane than without him.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Exactly what I have been saying. Dane is not a world beater and still make mistakes. But he is an above average Passer playing behind a very porous oline. He rarely has time to get the ball off.

The couple of idiots on here who claim Dane does not have D1 talent are truly stupid. Is he the best - no. Is he very athletic - no. But to say Dane Evans doesn't have D1 talent is just plain idiotic and the above stats prove just how stupid some of these posters are.

Dane is not the problem by any stretch. If TU had any offensive line depth the redshirt freshman center would not be starting. Hes a # 2 playing on the first unit, hes makes too many mistakes every game....procedural penalties and missed blocks where the D lineman gets a free shot at Dane right up the middle. Dane would be doing even better if we had an above average offensive line...too many weak links.

Because if they use the stats they have nothing to support their agenda or opinions. It's easy to rag on the qb being the problem. Is what kills me is they smell blood and it doesn't matter what the Qb does. If he has huge numbers it's because the receivers saved him or the defense sucks. My favorite is I could of thrown that much with those conditions. Has a bad game and its I told you he sucks. He shouldn't even be playing at this level. It start to gets comical. I guess that's what fanatic means. I enjoy the game and love to see tulsa do great but I guess I have a hard time relating because I can not understand whatsoever how anyone has the time or desire to berate these kids. Talking x and os about a player or criticizing a decision is one thing but to just rail on them is another.

I said on the pay board that if our defense, OL and running game were performing at Dan's level we would be a very good football team. Dane Evans is the least of our problems.

I also do not want to come across as negative. We are much better than last year despite a much tougher schedule this season. I am hopeful.

What is Dane's career W-L record as a starter?
Since football is a team sport Dane does not have a W-L starter, the team has a W-L record. Detroit was 86-90 with Barry Sanders as a starter but will anyone say he wasn't great?

Dane had his first year as a starter on a team that was not good at all under coach who was out of his league. He has already passed last years win total and could very well end up at .500 this year. New coach, new system, same players, give it come time.

Amen! Well said.......Some time will definitely be required....Looking at the commitment list
as it stands today, the red shirts, and the underclassmen among the starters and reserves,
it is hard to visualize next year's team being totally up to where Monty wants to be.....The
depth, speed, size, and quickness necessary to compete with Memphis, Houston, and SMU
(if Morris Hangs around), and the better of the Northern tier teams, on a consistent basis will
hopefully be on hand by 2017.....

As we have learned in both BB and FB in the past, if there is a significant break in the
positive recruiting cycle for even a year or two, it is really hard to catch up.....The good news?
It appears we have the coaches to get'er done!....;)
