Wolken’s column in the USA TODAY was right on target when he noted that the top ten recruiting schools were the top ranked football schools for several years in a row now. The rich get richer.

He suggested cutting scholarships to 70 which would allow teams like TU to sign a few top players (like the player who switched to Arkansas) the last day. Arkansas would not have had a scholarship for him and several others, providing a little more hope for small schools.

The top 10 schools would still get the best players but they wouldn’t have the ability to stockpile 3 and 4 star recruits on the bench just in case someone got hurt.
