Nice job keeping up with those stats. We happened to hit the SOS and great road win and good top 50 record this year....

Excellent comments from Uncle Joe during his interview on selection show

As fans, I think we tend to overcomplicate things. At the end of the day, it's 10 old-school guys sitting in a room trying to sort a ton of information. For them, the easier it is to digest, the better. SOS. Top 50 wins. Win on the road. Beat someone good outside your conference. It's not how I would choose teams, but it's how they do it. And for once, we benefited.

For the record, I thought we were out. Apparently I had a harder time recovering from that Memphis game than they did.
I firmly believe the Committee had TU in the field before the AAC tourney, only decision TBD was seeding and/or Dayton vs regional site.

Bottom line. We were not a first four out going into conference tourneys. Looks like not even a last four in.

Calipari's interview on ESPN was fun. He ripped the committee and what he called a "moving target" of criteria. And that the seeding is ridiculous and he specifically cited UK being an 8 the year Wichita was a 1.

Yep Castiglione said it was our top 50 wins and the win at SMU that got us in.

It seems that if SMU weren't cheaters, they would be going to the tournament instead of us. And if they hadn't cheated they probably wouldn't have been as good and our win against them wouldn't have been such a big deal.
KEEP UP THE CHEATING PONIES!!

Forget SMU...if Louisville's Escort Service hadn't fallen apart this year we'd also be out. There's no argument that we were exceedingly lucky; hopefully we can take full advantage of it.

No doubt! Joe C. laid it out very well, wins vs rpi top 50 and losses to rpi 200+ were important factors. Apparently bubble team rpi is much less important than most believe.

This bracket also showed strong indication the committee views conference SOS with much regard. There were (10) at large bids given to Power or AAC teams with rpi's in the range of 40-70, and (3) not give to mid-major conferences in the range of 30-50, and (2) not given to an A-10 or MWC team. A clear indication that Conference SOS matters, and whether it be fair or not, there is a difference between the haves and have not's.

Just look at C-USA, a few season ago there worst seed would be 11, 12, or 13, now the seeding is 14 or 15. The MWC is drawing a 14 seed. The Sun Belt was a better conference this season than MWC or C-USA and such a trend may continue.
