1. The new PAC-12 signed its media right deal with CBS… with the fine print stating that only 3 games per year will air on OTA CBS. All others will be on cbs sports network or streaming on paramount+. Further, the anticipated media payout is coming in around $7m-$8m per school… less than what the upper half of the AAC (us) are making.
2. Texas State is considering leaving the sunbelt for the new PAC-12. While the numbers don’t warrant anyone from the AAC leaving, Texas state would get a nice little bump in revenue.
3. For comparison, TU made a little under $10m ($9.7m to be exact) from the AAC for the 2023-2024 athletic year. Seems like we’re in a much better place financially and much more visible (even on ESPN+).
I just found all that interesting, so I thought I’d share since we’re in the worst part of the non-sports season now.
