Former Basketball Star, Blondy Baruti, Inks Talent Deal with ABC Network & ABC Studios
Blondy Baruti, who co-leads an untitled NBA project for ABC, has inked a talent deal with the network and ABC Studios.
The untitled project received a pilot order, but it wasn't picked up by the network - at least, not yet, by ABC; meaning, it might land elsewhere.
It follows a sweet yet wimpy teaching assistant living in his parents’ basement, who’s tapped by an NBA manager to become a translator for a talented but lazy recruit from Botswana. Baruti, who stands at 6'10, will play the talented but lazy recruit from Botswana. Skylar Astin plays the wimpy teaching assistant.
The cast also includes Ving Rhames and Jami Gertz.
Blondy grew up in the Democratic Republic of Congo and he moved to the USA in 2008, when he began playing high school basketball for the Mesa Jackrabbits in Arizona. Receiving All-State and All-Region honors, he was then offered a scholarship from the University of Tulsa, where he would go on to play, but in his 3rd year, he was declared medically unable to continue playing due to a foot injury. He would eventually graduate with two degrees from the University of Tulsa in Business Management and Theater, just last year. And he's obviously now leaning towards a showbiz career.
With this new deal he signed with ABC Network and ABC Studios, so early in his transition, he's off to a good start.
