Just a crazy story. FBI raid was for “personal” items of the journalist meaning it was almost certainly signed off by the US Attorney General. Story written by that right wing rag “Rolling Stone” btw.
Rolling Stone has a history of questionable reporting. Thanks for posting
Update on this. Meeks was caught up in a child porn sting unrelated to his journalism work. And the author of the article knew that and included that info. She was infuriated and resigned in protest because the editor of the Rolling Stone had some connection to this journalist and removed all mention of the child pornography from the article.
If you were already generally suspicious of Rolling Stone's reporting, then why didn't you check it before posting. It's bad enough I have to check the media for click bait. It was all over the media that it was a porn sting.Just a crazy story. FBI raid was for “personal” items of the journalist meaning it was almost certainly signed off by the US Attorney General. How exactly am I suppose to check the story? Other journalist whose job it is to check facts weren’t able but somehow a guy from Tulsa with no connections is suppose to vet a story? The NYTs also has a history of questionable reporting btw. Sorry, I didn't realize this was an old thread. Thought you had recently posted about this article. Didn't look at the dates on the posts. How exactly am I suppose to check the story? On the general subject, not this specific instance: I don't care if it's usually a decent source. If a story is suspicious sounding and/or I suspect the general reporting style of the source I am reading it on,(occasionally even) then I make sure at least one other source is reporting something similar. I attempt to find one source that isn't serious left or right as well. If I can't quite accomplish that, then I usually check it on a third source. (It's ridiculous that I have to do this now, but the media has pushed me there.)How exactly am I suppose to check the story?
