Thinking back on who we've gotten over the years who stood out (excluding obviously Nolan's teams). Who are some of our better transfers? Self added some good pieces this way, Tony Heard and Brandon Kurtz come to mind. David Shelton. Who else comes to mind? It's been a while since we had much top shelf talent so you kinda have to throw your memory back.

Only one I know of made it to semi-regular Pt in the NBA…. Daquan Jeffries.

I also think Brandon Rachal was very good for a JUCO athlete.

Yes, those would be my picks of the near current time frame and the not too
distant past....They both seemed to enjoy defense, and were good at it....And,
both were wonderful offensive players....

Their stat sheets had some pretty significant numbers all the way across.....

Steve Bracey was a 2 year starter after transferring from Kilgore J.C.
Ken "Grasshopper" Smith was also a juco transfer
The center that transferred from ORU in the 70's.

I guess if I were allowed to pick two of our transfers to start a team with, it
would be Steve Bracey and Paul Pressey.....Each could help you win a game
in so many different ways...

They also would be in my top five TU players of all time.....Basically for the
same reasons....

Top of head, a starting five of juco guys:

1. Tony Heard
2. Rod thompson
3. Paul pressey
4. David Shelton
5. Brandon Kurtz

I would put David Brown in the starting five and make Shelton the sixth man.

We could form a kick-ass team with our top jucos over the years. Greg Stewart, Mike Anderson, Ricky Ross, Bracey, Grasshopper Smith, Sammy High, Lamont Randolph, Mark Morse and the above listed. We've recruited the jucos well from time to time.

Leon Alvoid was pretty good back in the day. Juco transfer.
I remember watching him play....As I remember, he was on the same teams
as the Carson brothers under Ken Hayes...We were still playing @ the Fair
Grounds during that time.....

Didn't he have a tragic ending in a car accident of some kind on the way back
home to California? I could be confusing players....

Ron had already graduated and I think Leon might have played 1 year with Tim, when Tim was a senior.
I think Ron graduated in '70 and Tim showed up in '71.
