Most would have predicted losses to Big 12 OSU on the road (30 years since last win) USC ( an ACC team) and top ten Wichita. WE ARE WHO WE THOUGHT WE WERE.
Be realistic how many thought we would be better then 5-3

I had no idea what our record would be but thought ORU and Arkansas LR were definite wins. That is the problem. Our chances of winning the AAC was low to start the season so the only way to get to the big dance, (my goal EVERY year), was to put together a good win or two, (SC,WSU or OSU) and not lose any bad games. We needed to win the ORU and Ark LR of the world to get to the dance without a conference title. Sad but true
The South Carolina loss will not hurt us...they are legit...and could be 12-0 to start the season.
Little Rock could have been a nice win...surprisingly. But, we didn't take advantage...
The Shocker win be help, but only if they go on a run...seems unlikely in their current state (primarily due to injuries).
The OSU win won't add much value. Missouri State is a very very poor team this year. For most of the game against OSU, they were "blowing the doors off 'em..." Not good.
Have we beat a good team yet? Ohio? ISU?

Because this is supposed to be "the year." We are loaded with seniors. After this year we will likely see a marked drop off. If in our peak year we aren't an at-large team and don't have a good shot at winning the conference, well, that pretty much means the program isn't where we thought it was.
