just checked the ASU 2017 record 11-21 (7-11). Did see any DI wins outside of the SWAC, 4 DII wins among the 11. Heavy road schedule to start the year. Best effort was a 17 point loss at Baylor.

No idea about their returning players or prognosis.

I did a quick look at their last two games and I think they return 4 or 5 of their starters from last season. I didn’t have time to look through their games so it’s possible those 4-5 weren’t starters the entire season.

As long as we don’t pull the tradition of a Haith clunker we should win this one by 20 or so.

That was mentioned in the post game radio broadcast. The players remember it last year and won’t let it happen again (or so they say).

One of the states I have not yet visited. Along with Montana.
My son wants to do NASA space camp - in northern Alabama. I’ve never been to Alabama and have less than zero desire. All I can say is that Alabama can’t possibly be as bad as I expect, so it has they going for it...

Cordial place....Friendly people and good food...We traveled a lot of places to
play golf, but Alabama was always our favorite....They have the "Robert Trent
Jones Golf Trail", a series of some 7 golf complexes from Huntsville in the north
to Mobile on the gulf....A lot of really good memories for those of us who are
left.....

I have tremendous respect for your judgment and intellect, seniorgolfer, and based on what you do on this site consider you to be a true gentleman. But I still don’t want to go to Alabama :)

I've only driven through Alabama...but I've been to Mississippi. They're basically the same state. The town we stayed in in Mississippi still had a "white laundromat" and a "colored laundromat". This was the 90s. Our bus got dropped off at the "colored laundromat" and a lady asked if we were sure we were in the right place. We told her why we were in town and that today was laundry day. It ended up being a fun time as we chatted with the patrons and they thought our activity as we described it, was pretty interesting (we were there for a drum and bugle corps show).

Did you separate your whites from your colors?

I think that experience was an eye opener for me as well as many others. Our corps was pretty diverse and being from the northeast, southern racism and segregation was something we only learned about in text books and discussing MLK. In Boston you had pockets of racism (Irish South Bostoners for one) but nothing where you had widespread "self segregation" like this.

At our first GMAC bowl game in Mobile my friend and I were actually denied service at a gas station (I'm white if that's not obvious). Just refused to let us take cash out of the ATM so we had to go to another gas station. It was the weirdest thing I've ever encountered. However, when we parked in someone's yard next to the stadium, I dropped $60 in cash and one of our tickets and the guy tracked me down a half block away and made sure I got my money and my ticket.

So yeah, it's a really strange dynamic down there in some places, but lots of good people as well.

You were playing their tune (literally). I’d like to go to Mississippi - or perhaps would have liked to go to Mississippi 30 years ago. There was so much interesting and amazing music that has largely died out. Other Turner actually recorded some albums, it’s pretty amazing. Can’t imagine a big picnic with down home cooking, some shine and that music. Man.

You know who wins on the first Tuesday in November?

America.
