PROVIDENCE, R.I. – CBS Sports Network announcer Brent Stover will serve as the emcee for the American Athletic Conference Summer Kickoff and Media Days, which begin, Sunday, July 31, in Newport, Rhode Island.

Stover has been with CBS Sports Network since 2010 and serves as a play-by-play announcer for football, basketball and other Olympic sports as well as a studio host for coverage of football and basketball. He has previously served as a host, anchor, reporter and play-by-play announcer for the Big Ten Network and Fox Sports Net Midwest/Southwest.

Stover will moderate a pair of roundtable discussions on national and conference-wide football matters Tuesday, Aug. 2, which will feature The American’s 12 head football coaches. The session with the West Division coaches will begin at 9:45 a.m. ET, while the East Division coaches take the stage at 11 a.m.

The event begins Sunday, with meetings and social functions with The American’s 12 directors of athletics as well as bowl and media partners. Coaches and student-athletes begin media interviews Monday afternoon before the conference’s signature New England clambake closes the day.

Commissioner Mike Aresco will begin Tuesday’s schedule with his annual remarks to the local and national media members in attendance.

Live coverage of The American’s Summer Kickoff and Media Days will begin Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 9 a.m. ET on The American Digital Network. ESPN3 will follow with a two-hour recap of the two-day event, hosted by Mike Gleason and Matt Chatham, Tuesday at noon ET.

The American’s contingent in Newport includes 11 players who were named to the 2015 all-conference team, including five returning first-team selections. Four players who have been named to the 2016 Maxwell Award preseason watch list will be in attendance (Houston’s Greg Ward Jr., USF’s Marlon Mack and Temple’s Jahad Thomas and Phillip Walker) as will two players named to the Bednarik Award watch list (USF’s Deatrick Nichols and Tulane’s Tanzel Smart).
