45% of American Families Pay Zero Federal Income Taxes

The number of households in the United States that pay no federal income tax, in fact, has been rising steadily. Data from the Tax Policy Center show that, in 2011, 74.8 million Americans paid zero federal income tax or had a negative income tax rate, which means they received benefits from the federal government via programs such as the Earned Income Tax Credit or Child Tax Credit, in addition to having to pay no taxes. In 2015, 77.5 million will do the same.

How do you run a country with these numbers?

We pretty much just vote to take people's earned wealth and property and give it to ourselves now. Avoiding direct democracy was supposed to prevent that, but we've gone that way anyway.

1980? We can look at much more recent figures than that to see the rapid growth of people who pay no federal income tax. In 2013 the rate was 40%. Two short years later that number had ballooned to over 45%. That's over a 5% increase in the last two years. Our current economic model and policies are not sustainable as far as a tax base.

Can someone explain to me how giving tax breaks to low income Americans helps these people when they in fact pay no income tax at the current time? Shouldn't we focus on bringing back manufacturing and living wage jobs which have disappeared over the last ten years? The numbers from the last two years are particularly alarming.
