2024-2025 Men's Schedule

Do you have the number of mid major teams receiving at-large bids by year? I know the number is down. Just curious how much.
I want to see the # of mid majors who get a #7 bid as opposed to a #16, for instance. I would like to see a comparison of the seeds as well as the # of bids in years past.

If many expect at large bids for non P4 teams in any years, they have not kept up with the portal and NIL. These teams have been decimated. Tulsa gets decimated at both ends, losing players to the portal via NIL , and losing potential recruits both high school, JUCO, and portal to NIL. It’s getting almost better to move to a smaller conference like ORU where the automatic bid gives you a better chance. We cannot compete with Memphis, UAB, or even S Florida with NIL unless some big donors come through there.
Have to have better coaching. A novel scheme can overcome a lot of talent deficiencies.

Loyola Chicago

Sister Jean, we love ya! The Ramblers are back and coach Drew Valentine has them trending up with a top 50 recruiting class. Freshmen Seifeldin Hendawy and Daniil Glazkov are turning heads and the portal has been good to them with Justin Moore (Drexel), Kymany Houinsou (Washington State), Jalen DeLoach (Georgia) and Francis Nwaokorie (UC San Diego) joining the ranks. With only one player lost to the transfer portal, the Ramblers are ready to make some noise again.

Interesting team, whose coach has a fast passing, low error offense...Fun to watch....

Meanwhile, our staff, as now assembled, seems to hit about the same level (sans a defensive
big) each year, and this coming season might determine if K&Co. can finally exceed their
predecessors, and we can continue to move up the conference ladder a little....

It has been apparent for some time that if we are really serious about recruiting (and actually
getting) a higher level front court player(s) that something needs changed:
.......Possibilities?
...Upgrade geographic scope of our recruiting efforts?
...Hire a recruiting specialist, especially in bigs...Would have to include global efforts?
...Could our recent hiring of someone with NIL experience in the AD signify more University
participation in that recriting tool?

I have no idea what the answer is, but the top third of this conference is too good for us to
compete with without significant improvement in that area of our game....

TU has stepped up bigtime with money and it will continue to get better. Konkol walked into a DISASTER and is improving each year. Now, losing Haggerty is what it is...and from what I've seen on his social media..he is ONLY about himself.

I think we will continue to improve starting with this season.

I think at our level we should be Global recruiting. Saint Mary's and others at our level have assistants with foreign ties or send them out there. Connections is everything in the foreign recruiting game. It looks like NIL has finally made it toward the top of the list with the new A.D. staff after being ignored too long. Konkol finds the National Freshman of the year and Memphis buys him. That is not Konkol's fault but some here seem to think so.

Chicago Loyola #5 on mid majors to watch. Will definitely be a challenge.

Today was her 105th birthday.

Basketball practice has restarted this week. Hope to get some reports on some of those with nagging injuries.

I didn't think about them scheduling right after finals week on sat. That's a nice add to the schedule. I bet we can't ever get them to do that for us in football.(not that UCF was responsible for the add in this instance though)

Sunrise Florida Tournament it appears. Seats for Nevada still available.

UCF on December 14th in the Orange Bowl Classic
According to blogging the bracket Tulsa is the only team in the “Group of Five” that still is not in an MTE of some kind. This should fall into an MTE but it’s currently “not listed”.

They don’t have a bracket posted yet and their ticket link doesn’t work for me. I’ll wait until we have confirmation but that would be a great weekend for me to travel.

Seat Guru and others have seats but I don’t trust them.

I don’t think that is a bracketed event. I believe it’s two games. Like a one day event
If that’s the case then I won’t be going. If I wanted to see one game I could fly to Tulsa and visit family while I was there.

UCF will be a tough game for us. UCF has big time NIL in the Big 12 now. Two Big 12 teams in preseason is making it strong when you also include Missouri Sate and Loyola Chicago. Last year was much easier.
