The reunion for the 50th anniversary of the 1969 TU baseball team was tonight in a suite at Chapman Stadium. It was terrific.
I will have an article about it soon. The team that finished 2nd in the nation is still going strong. Roger Whitaker, starting left fielder and standout on the team, organized the event and was so nice as to invite me.
14 of the players plus coach Gene Shell attended. Plus many more players from other TU teams were there. Thec15 minute video by Bruce Howard that was posted on this site was shown.
Really, what an outstanding bunch of guys. Getting to talk with people like Shell, Whitaker, Steve Rogers, Les Rogers, Phil Honeycutt, Larry Byrd, Tim Rector, and many others was a privilege.
Certainly makes one want to bring back baseball. And golf. Gragg was there and was very gracious. Shell loves TU and was thankful to Gragg. But don't get him started about former AD Emery Turner...
