Maybe it's just me, but the center from Wichita State slightly remind anyone else of a White Walker from the Game of Thrones?
I know a lot of people disagree with me here but I maintain we are an underachieving team given the pretty good talent level.
Both teams shot lights out in the first half. Whichever team steps up defense in the second half will most likely win. Not sure why our extremely loud PA guy isn’t here today, but my ears are glad.
Anyone know what’s happened to Wichita State? They looked so good early on. They look to be headed to 1-6 in 2025.
Odom on pace to go for a triple double. 7 rb 6 assists 15 points.
Considering how Archie is playing lately may as well take advantage of McWright's defense.
WSU has definitely had problems, but we’re playing one of best games today (so far).
Archie is playing fine when he gets a chance. McWrong, not so much.
What a difference it makes to have Garcia back.
Another stupid move by Konkol to put no one on the line again cost us an offensive rebound.

Big win against a traditional rival.. need the TW and local media to hype it a little..
With Garcia and an above average coach we could win the league and go to ncaa at least we have half of that formula.
We need the TW to write about TU in the paper before the game.
Really disappointing.
The one series of offensive rebounds with Willis finishing off with a three brought the house down. That's the effort needed to have a winning team. EFFORT can get us the victories we need to compete.
Without Konkol being able to recruit a bona fide ready to play actual center, our team will rely on having to shoot 50% from 3s to be competitive. I saw the box score from yesterday and we shot an obscenely high % from 3 and the field in general, didn't have crap ton of turnovers, didn't get outrebounded by a stupid margin...leads to winning games. Defense wasn't great as it looked like WSU had a decent shooting night.
We don't have the shooters that can do that every night. We get games like this a couple times a season but our team is more like the one that lost to ECU earlier in the week. Meh shooting, meh defense, meh everything else. We're a pretty avg. to poor team 90% of the time. Yesterday was one of the 10% games. I don't make these comments to be overly negative but I've accepted the reality of what this team is and is capable of.
And we haven't had a true center under Konkol so I'm starting to think he misses out on them because he doesn't have a true plan for their development and usage in place. And the guys he gets are usually the ones at the bottom of the barrel. Don't get me wrong I like Garcia but he's at best a 4 but he plays more like a 3 on offense. Smikle is a true 4 but not a center and doesn't have the C body type we're needing to be effective defensively. The game has changed so the guy doesn't even need to be a big time shot blocker, just alter the occasional shot when someone comes into the paint and rebound like a freaking beast.
Yes, giving news coverage to the program is bad. Always.
Good post. The answer to the true center question is almost 7 figures now. Need pure shooters ....the game now requires pure shooters and a coach that knows how to get them open shots. The other piece of the puzzle is that almost 7 figure Big who can rebound, rim protect and has great post moves to score. I suspect a graduate is our best hope here. The shooters are out there....and PG like Odom are too.
We might end up top half of the conference with a losing overall record and a very doable path to conference tournament semis. We'd have to win a few games that we aren't favored in, which is not Konkol's strength to say the least, but given how bad everyone else is from 5 to 13, not impossible. Finish 5th, then in the tourney beat WSU and Tulane and we're in the semis. Konkol needs to take a step forward in his coaching but not a big one.
I was looking at the conference standings...dear God this conference is terrible right now
