Nothing like a little signing day drama. Hopefully he realizes who has wanted him this entire time and stays close to home and plays in front of friends and family. Petrino's a snake.

Petrino is slime and the 'Ville is not a very good school.

I am down on Kill's recruiting tactics in Minnesota as well. Playing dirty. Don't think Whitfield is even considering them right now.

Hopefully McKinley sees that TU has stayed committed to him throughout the process even in the coaching change. Louisville is only offering because they lost someone so Whitfield is basically a second or third choice at this point for them.

IMHO there is no loyalty in recruiting. It is the most selfish decision a player will make. I hope he makes the best choice for him and his family, not based on us sticking with him!

Shon, I'm not necessarily advocating he stick with us because we have stayed with him. But if the first time you hear from a school that you're good enough for us now and we'd like you to come here is on signing day, then it's sort of obvious that you are the 2nd choice. Plus if the interwebs are right (and let's face it, when are they not??), Minnesota and 'Ville are starting to get pushy with anyone around the kid.

I agree the kid should be selfish in his decision...but let's not be hasty which is what Louisville is asking of him. What school does he know the most about? Tulsa. What school did his gut tell him originally? Tulsa. What school did he reaffirm that commitment meaning he felt it was right, even 4-5 days ago? Tulsa

P.S. Comments about the interwebs were made with a wry smile on my face...

Lets let this play out and then comment. IMO

All I know is he has handled the uncertainty with class. Biggest decision of his life to date.

This other drama with people having press conferences then not sending in LOIs, wow.

Kinda know what you guys are going through.

We had Sheldrick Redwine as a CB commit for months, and on the last weekend Miami misses out on some higher rated prospects, so they bring him in for a visit and then make an offer. Then he flips at 1030 am EST today. So that's why we are in this battle at the moment. I don't know if we can lure him away from you guys without an official visit.

Sorry PushUpMan, Whitfield just signed his LOI with Tulsa as announced by the athletic dept. and Coach Montgomery.

Good for this kid.........Hell, it's great to be wanted. I don't blame him a bit for looking around.

Good get for Hurricane Monty and staff.................now GO TU!!!!

If you are offered at the last minute by a school, you can be sure you were like second or third on their list maybe even lower. Why would you want to go somewhere that you are not a high priority.

Great news for Coach Monty & staff ! I really think Whitfield will get a chance to contribute next season.

Congrats McKinley, I think you'll be happy with your decision.

We look forward to seeing you play here in Tulsa !

Whitfield listed at 6'4", I believe it too. Watching some of his video. He towered over pretty much everyone he played with. I thought he was just a defensive player, but he played a lot of QB also. LoL he had no trouble seeing over the offensive line.

Hopefully Whitfield will have a career like Dexter McCoil's. Dexter's physical transformation in his four years here was remarkable.

I wish DeMarco Nelson had finished his career with the new staff, would have loved to see him go out on a higher note.

He's going to find the best thing about playing here is that his friends and family can see him up close every game and "personally" root for him in the stands every home game. Oh and he can go home anytime for some home cooked food.

He posted a tweet of a note on his phone about his decision and why he chose TU. Kid obviously thought it over long and hard. It also seemed to be a bit defensive meaning it sounds like he's catching some flak from 'Ville and Gopher fans about it. This is what it said:

"So tired of hearing people talk about the decision I made yesterday! I picked Tulsa because I thought it was best for me, nobody else! Yall are not the ones who's going to be playing ball after I signed them papers and going to school there! You can go to the pros playing division 2 football, or anywhere! Even if I don't go pro in 4 to 5 years, I'll still be (getting) a great education at one of the best academic schools in Oklahoma! And that's the most important thing in this world today, getting an education! So if you supporting me or not, I really don't care. Because I'm going to make it on the field or off!"

Its easy for TU fans to support him and let him know that he has the support of more than just his coaches and family.

Nice, good to see an independent thinker not get swayed by Minnesota's nasty recruiting tactics.

I appreciate your posting this TUBla, I have yet to immerse myself very deeply in the social media of twitter. I know there are probably at least a few people behind the times like me, with one or two forms of social media.

I really like his response. Good for him!

Welcome to Tulsa, McKinley. Come get a great education in a great city, playing for great coaches and outstanding teammates. Play with a chip on your shoulder. Prove them wrong.

Interestingly enough, Louisville has been banned from recruiting at a high school in South Carolina (I believe it is in So Carolina) for rescinding a scholarship offer yesterday from a RB that had been verbally committed to Louisville since June. Petrino told the HS coach it was because Louisville lost some DBs to the NFL draft and needed to get some more DBs on campus. Evidently one of those targets was McKinley Whitfield.

HS coach responded that Petrino has known for a month these kids were leaving and he believes the late notice was to keep him from another ACC competitor.

Petrino=SNAKE.

We all thought Graham was bad.

Kieth Olbermann just went off on Petrino during his show just prior to our basketball game. Petrino was today's "worst person in the sports world"

At some point kids are going to see Petrino as the snake he is. Quits his NFL gig to go back to college before the season was over. Shady at Arkansas. Shady at the 'Ville both times and this ridiculous crap now.

Who is the kid they are referring to that had the scholly pulled by Petrino? I'm just curious because I want to follow up and see where he ended up signing.

Well a simple google search and I found my answer. Looks like he still hasn't signed with anyone yet.

Welp, it appears someone beat me to the punch on that. So, edit and useless info applied.

I posted a response on twitter about Lville trying to steal this kid, in the final minutes and one of Lville's recruiting experts tweeted me asking which player was I talking about............Hmmmmmm, even Lville's recruiting guys are snakes.

Would have been ironic justice if we had offered and signed him.(colburn)
