They probably blocked it's communication, and wanted to see it's actions and communication efforts. The one's we shot down over Canada weren't much easier to look at after we shot this one down over the ocean. You want all the answers and it might not be beneficial to reveal it to the public for reasons of US security. I'll watch how Senators on the Defense Committee react to all the information they are briefed on over the next few weeks/months.
