Good reversal on that targeting call. Qb went down on what would have been a clean tackle.
Our play calling is a big fail so far. We can't blame it on a QB that can't throw, either. Meanwhile, UCONN had a couple of great play calls, leading to the first points of the day.

Line is fine. Play calling and Skipper’s inability to read coverage and just throwing to his first option every time is the problem. Plus if you keep throwing the ball short into triple coverage it’s going to get picked. We won’t run or throw a slant anymore and all of our outs may go 1 yd beyond the LOS. I think that’s more a function against the route running on the WRs.

The play calling is dictated/limited by the QB’s ability/inability to make the correct decision and throw the ball at the correct time.
Skipper does not get through his progressions easily or quickly. Our WRs don’t exactly run the most precise or crisp routes to create space for him either. He may be able to throw the ball but if he is not recognizing the coverage and throwing to the right/open receiver, the offense as a whole is going to look disjointed.
Brooks still has like 70 yds rushing and yet UCONN can tee off on the run because our passing game is not scaring anyone.

60 yards passing in the first half against the worst passing defense in the country. You have to believe a better strategy or use of higher percentage tactics would have yielded more yards and at least one score.
