Tulsa women vs Tulane

We may win this because the Tulsa women know how to close games unlike their counterparts the men’s squad. This would be a big win

The women have not had a good last half of the conference season the last two years. The last 8 games are their Achilles heel

The ladies have hi the proverbial wall. Delaney was the only player who really showed up today. Really poor shooting effort as a team. Hoping they pull out of it soon.

Really? Crawford and Mayberry both had good games. The team had a great shooting half in the second half

Considering the numerous injuries and that we played many freshmen again today, I thought it was as good a result as could be expected. Having all these injuries could have made other teams give up completely, but I have not seen that.

Like the men’s team gave up.

I believe Crawford's 1st name is Delaney. As for 2nd half shooting great...rarely is falling behind by 20 to a decent to good team ever going to work out. I think I saw at one point we were shooting 22% from the field and like 11% from 3 (think we were down something like 28-13 at the time).

I think the pressing frenetic style we play may be causing the end of season breakdown. We just look tired. And if I recall a similar thing happened last year. I think another part is our lack of overall team size and we just get beat up trying to defend the post and rebounding. I know Nelp is recruiting good players to help alleviate these issues and I have confidence in her being able to do that.

I was saying she wasnt the only one. so ease up there a bit. I didnt get to watch the first half and I am cuious as to why Poindexters stats are so low for the first half. It looked like she really didnt play much the first half.

Poindexter has gotten off to some really slow starts the last few games. She seems to be drawing the opponents' best defender and they are bringing help if it looks like she wants to make a move to the basket. Just from what I've seen she looks like she is forcing a lot of shots from the outside.

The inconsistency that comes with jacking up a lot of outside shots and relying on 3s to keep a game close is what we're stuck with. The last 6 or so games we have not had more than 1-2 players shoot well and for this team to be successful they need 4 players in double figures and for one to be close to 20 pts. We took 40 3's yesterday and hit 15. We only took 15 2 pt FGs...and only hit 5. I wish there was a quarter by quarter breakdown on shots taken/hit so I could see how many of the 3s came in the 4th when TU outscored Tulane 17-4. Tulane had a +13 advantage in rebounding. 11 of those were offensive rebounds.

Poindexter has been held in check in the first half of the last two games. I think opposing teams are denying her the ball outside and blocking her drives to the bucket inside. That strategy seems to have worked so we'll probably see more of it. We need Bittle to regain her outside shooting touch.

Bittle is my favorite player but she seems to be hit or miss from game to game. She doesn't force quite as many shots as Poindexter does. But you're right, we need the combo of Poindexter-Bittle-Crawford-Mayberry to all be scoring 10+ points every game if we're going to be successful.
