TULSA, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa announced its football promotional schedule for the six home games at H.A. Chapman Stadium this fall, kicked off by the Bank of Oklahoma Turnpike Classic against state rival Oklahoma State.
The home opener against the OSU Cowboys, on September 14 at 2:30 p.m., is also "Extra Yards for Teachers", a college football initiative that recognizes the efforts of school teachers in our local community.
First responders from Tulsa and surrounding communities will be honored a week later on "Hometown Heroes Day/#ForOurCity Day" scheduled for Sept. 21, when the Golden Hurricane hosts the Wyoming Cowboys.
All first responders will receive free admission to the game, as well as be invited to pregame tailgating activities and be recognized during in-game presentations. First responders interested in participating in the day's festivities can contact Nick Weisenborn at 918.631.3035. In addition, Tulsa's 2019 Athletic Hall of Fame Class will be recognized during the game.
The first 5,000 fans will receive a free t-shirt at the Wyoming contest.
The Navy Midshipmen come to Chapman Stadium for "Military Appreciation Day" on October 12. All active duty and retired military personnel will receive free admission with Military ID and will be honored during the game. Additionally, in partnership with the American Football Coaches Association it's also "Coach to Cure" to raise awareness for muscular dystrophy.
The university celebrates 125 years on Homecoming 2019. The Memphis Tigers come to town for Homecoming on Oct. 26. The annual TU Homecoming bonfire is set for Friday night on the TU campus. The game will feature pregame alumni tailgating and traditional gameday Homecoming ceremonies.
Two-time defending American Athletic Conference Champion UCF will be in Tulsa for Friday Night Football and the "Alzheimer's Awareness Game" on November 8 with a 6:00 p.m. kickoff. The contest will also celebrate the 150th Anniversary of College Football.
Tulsa closes out the home season on Nov. 23 when the Houston Cougars visit Chapman Stadium on Senior Day, as the Golden Hurricane seniors will be playing their final game in front of the hometown fans. It is also "Native American Heritage Day". Although the official day that pays tribute to Native Americans for their many contributions to the United States of America is a week later, TU will recognize National American Heritage Day a week earlier at the home finale.
Pregame festivities will begin three hours prior to each home game at Chapman Commons. The Cain's on Chapman Commons Concert Series, featuring a live band, will take place during the first four home games.
