Thanks for the list loca! A list of transfers in to the AAC would also be interesting. The overall turnover in rosters is unprecedented. It really would’ve been a good time to change coaches, especially if your new coach is a great recruiter.

For atufan, some players move for more playing time, that’s usually a move down in program prestige.

Also, with this many moves, there’s going to be a lot of buyer’s remorse among players who transferred. There will some players who will be left out in this big game of musical chairs.

This was taking too long last night so I had to go to bed. When I get off work I will be posting who has transferred in

I wonder if West Texas A&M is our old Valley foe West Texas State?

Yes it is.
The name was changed to protect the innocent.

An anecdote - we had friends who lived in Canyon when our older daughter was looking at universities and colleges in 2004, They said she should at least look at West Texas while we were in town, so we did. At the university, they told us that if we wanted a dorm that had air conditioning, we should act quickly since those dorms usually fill up first. I could already tell that our daughter was putting up with the visit as she had no interest, and what sealed the deal for her was when we walked out of the administration building and were hit by the overwhelming stench of the local stockyards (or as locals would say, the smell of money). She wound up attending UNT.

All Wichita State needs to do now is add a kid from Incarnate Word and they will hit the west Texas trifecta!
Well incarnate word has 4 in the portal.

PF going to Arizona Christian
PG going to Louisiana Tech
C who is unclaimed (Marcus Larsson)
SF who is unclaimed (Derek Van Vierah)

West of Lamar . . . And no one cares about Lamar!!!
At least you don't......Haven't they beat us a time or two? When we watch Baylor or Houston,
we realize that individually they are better, as a team they are better, and both of them seem
to love to play defense, you start to realize where we are in the world of college hoops.....That's
why playing a Haywood and/or KES for any prolonged period of time is a recipe for disaster....
They barely, if at all, slide under the umbrella of the D-1 required skill set....

That's why I'm hopeful that we play our youngsters this time around.....There is nothing that
KES or Haywood can do, even in their better moments, that the youngsters can't.....They have
proven to be losers....We don't need further evidence of that......It's time we go in a new
direction....

If we are going to rebuild, we can't do it with known losers....We tried that this last season, and
it didn't work.....As a result, we lost BIG, and also lost most of our ignored freshman class...

Bringing a solid team to the court at the start of the season is a helleva lot harder than it
appears to be......So far, after six seasons, Haith has had rough sailing at the start of seasons...

Is it possible that Haith may wake up and actually concentrate on the players that perform the
best in the off season? Hmmm.....If we rely on history.....Ouch!!

West of Lamar . . . And no one cares about Lamar!!!
Everything in Texas is West of Lamar.

And Lamar hired Alvin Brooks as head coach from the UH staff.

From the Beaumont Enterprise,

New Lamar University men’s basketball coach Alvin Brooks will make a significantly larger salary than his predecessor, keeping with the school’s recent trend of investing more money in its athletic leaders.

Brooks signed a five-year contract beginning with a $250,000 base salary, according to documents obtained by the Enterprise. The deal comes with automatic salary increases each season that will bring the average figure to $275,000 over the five-year span.

Former coach Tic Price, who was fired last month after a 10-18 overall season, made a base salary of $157,500 according to a contract signed in July of 2019. Because Price’s deal ran through the end of the 2021-22 season, Lamar was forced to pay him a buyout equal to one year of that base salary.

Tulsa is 1-3 all time vs “ain’t that right” Lamar.

That's somewhere between 25% & 35% of div 1 players transferring.(Depends on how many extra scholarships schools gave out to returning seniors, over the alloted 13.) Musical chairs, where everybody suffers the illusion of greener pastures.

That has been of real concern to me.....Won't this mean that some (if not many) of those young
men may drop out of school all together??
Some portal people won't find a spot, and some freshman won't be offered a scholarship. when they would have in a normal year of recruiting.

Once you enter the portal, you are on your own. The university has no responsibility to take you back! Choices have consequences. Sometimes you give up a scholly and get nothing in return...

It’s like the old Let’s Make A Deal! program, and some will get the worthless prize behind door #3.

I've had a running spreadsheet in Hurricane Alley for the past couple months, but it is only tracking Tulsa's current roster and transfers.
I am not a member of the Alley. So just doing what I can on this side of the board. I was interested in transfers conference wide.

1. Due to the vast number of transfers in the NCAA

2. Which teams are losing what “key” players

3. Allow each of us who wan to, be able to see what kind of talent the teams in the conference are picking up as we will play them

Ok people here is your weekend Transfer Portal Report for May 9, 2021.

I have updated the main spreadsheets.

There are now 1,567 players in the Transfer Portal. This is up 49 new entrants since last Saturday.

759 players without homes. 808 have new homes.

I have a feeling that these numbers will drastically change after the NBA Draft.

Leaving the Conference

UCF

Moses Bol - Entered on May 4
Brandon Mahan - Entered on May 8

Already in the Portal

Leaving the Conference
