This is the Republican Party

i fear legislators who abuse their position more.
More than a single man who's allowed to do anything he wants? With no fear of repercussion for himself or his associates? So you fear legislators more than dictators? Well you better just crown your King now.

New study indicates Republicans revised their moral beliefs to be more in alignment with Donald Trump

My republican moral belief, and most of those I associate with, still believe in the compass of the Party of Lincoln as the Republican Party should be. Not all of us are right wing nuts, nor are all democrats progressives and socialists.

In a perfect world there would be another party and we’d have the party in the middle where most of us reside. I can dream…

I think we all agree on that… but it’s concerning that Moderate Republicans aren’t doing anything to prevent this from becoming a real problem. Susan Collins wouldn’t even say that she wouldn’t support Trump in a re-election bid despite voting for his conviction.

When moderation disappears, fanaticism and radicalism thrive.

Trump last Sunday in Texas.

“So pathetic to watch the Unselect Committee of political hacks, liars, and traitors work so feverishly to alter the Electoral College Act so that a Vice President cannot ensure the honest results of the election, when just one year ago they said that “the Vice President has absolutely no right to ensure the true outcome or results of an election.” In other words, they lied, and the Vice President did have this right or, more pointedly, could have sent the votes back to various legislators for reassessment after so much fraud and irregularities were found. If it were sent back to the legislators, or if Nancy Pelosi, who is in charge of Capitol security, had taken my recommendation and substantially increased security, there would have been no “January 6” as we know it! Therefore, the Unselect Committee should be investigating why Nancy Pelosi did such a poor job of overseeing security and why Mike Pence did not send back the votes for recertification or approval, in that it has now been shown that he clearly had the right to do so!”

There are more than two parties. It's just everyone wants to draw a line in the sand and not willing to vote 3rd party. I have basically become a 3rd party voter and refuse to allow my vote go to any candidate of the 2 main parties because I think they are all cry babies.

Trump wants to burn down the establishment whether it’s a Dem or a Pub at this point. He needs to go away. Far away
Golf match, election, investment, doesn't matter, he will cheat if he can. Can't stand losing, despite being a loser with no real abilities. If I were given a chance to go back in time and stop his father from conceiving him, I would.

“Do cry babies cause violent attempts to subvert presidential elections?“ Or has Trump has so alterted the Republican party that it prefers autocracy over democracy?

If that was aimed at me then read my comment. I already said both parties are cry babies. So yes I think they are cry babies.

Calling them both cry babies is fine with me, but attempting to overthrow the results of a fair election and the events leading up to the events of Jan 6 are a lot more than crying.

the problem with the Republican party, is that they let the Democrats get away with it.
You were sounding somewhat sane and rational in this thread until this comment. You do realize that there have been some 100+ bills introduced in state legislatures nationwide that will actually limit access to the ballot box primarily designed to limit the number of minority voters. OK is introducing a bill that will de-enroll EVERY voter in the state and make them re-register with a picture ID and an original birth certificate (one with a raised state seal, no photocopies). This will result in probably a reduction of 35% of registered voters who identify as an ethnic or racial minority because said records are just hard to come by. It will also severely handicap naturalized citizens who may have been born in a different country. And let's not forget the gerrymandering (which has already been ruled unConstitutional in Ohio, Alabama, and North Carolina with others to come). If the Republican party's only hope of winning an election is based on preventing people from voting or diluting their vote, the Republican party needs a new platform.

And go ahead and spout your unverified voter fraud claims and I will respond with the dozen or so actual cases where individuals (registered Republicans) have been actually charged with voter fraud by trying to cast ballots in more than one place, state, etc. OR caught stealing absentee ballots. Rudy and his psycho co-counsel are being sued for defamation by Dominion for their false claims. I believe the woman lawyer in this case tried to have the case dismissed because she was just doing what she had been told by Trump...judge said no. And I believe disbarment hearing have started against her in a couple of states.

Can you link a draft of the Oklahoma bill requiring an original birth certificate ?

If this bill is true, I know that I have no idea where my birth certificate currently is and making me provide one would be a significant deterrent from me registering. Getting a sealed copy of your birth certificate is one of the biggest PITA’s ever.

I just obtained mine from the state of Oklahoma for airport pre-checks. Wasn’t difficult at all but it did take awhile. The problem I see is if the info above is true the state won’t be able to deal with the flood of birth certificate requests.

Would like to read the bill before I discuss. I certainly don’t like the idea however.

Meh I can say that on both sides. I think both parties are petulant childish bafoons. One party wants to cancel everything in the world that has a differing opinion of them. The other party doesn't want to listen to any facts that contradicts their moral compass. Both parties are a virus in my humble opinion.

Link to the bill is in the body of the story. So here is the stupid thing and any of us on here who have gone through the process of getting the Real ID knows it was insane the amount of docs you needed. The bill is extremely short sighted. If I show up to re-register so I can vote in local and state elections (the bill would only restrict voting in those elections as it would be unConstitutional to restrict the right of a citizen to vote in a Federal election), the only form of ID we should need is a Real ID as that contains all the info anyone needs to know. 2nd, a US passport is also sufficient to prove as you must either be a citizen or naturalized citizen to obtain one (there may be an exceedingly rare instance where someone who does not fall into either of those can obtain a US passport). The bill writer/sponsor is banking on POC and those from poor backgrounds won't have an easy access to the information needed. I spent $25 per copy 15 years ago to get original birth certificates with the state seal of The Great State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations on them and it took months to get them back. IDs and docs such as these are expensive to get...wouldn't requiring these in order for someone to vote be the equivalent of a poll tax? Now if OK was going to provide IDs and birth certificates for free, have at it.

My guess is the ACLU files suit 2 minutes after this bill passes and it gets tossed as unConstitutional. Telling a person who has voted in every election the last 10 years they can't do so anymore...bet that doesn't fly.

Not a fan. If we’re going to require voter ID then said IDs need to be free and readily (easily) obtainable.

not sure many people havent voted because of this.
but the dems are for letting non-citizens vote, even illegals, unvalidated mail-in ballot suhignatures, registrstion without validation, unsupervised ballot counting and transport,

no, google, ny times, la times, cnn, msm, ...
still waiting for the number of people who were "voter suppressed" by the republican changes.
I believe NY has a bill proposing to allow non-citizen permanent residents the ability to vote. Unfortunately, the headlines only make note of the non-citizen part and you have to read the entire article to know the full story and details.

What you claim as voter fraud is actually states and lawmakers trying to make sure that there are no roadblocks to voting, as it is the most fundamental right the Constitution grants. Voting rights are covered by no less than 5 Amendments (15, 19, 23, 24, 26) as well as the right to vote granted in the Constitution itself. So why are "red" states hell bent on keeping people from voting? I can go through all of the things GOP state legislatures are doing that they claim are protecting the vote, when in actuality they are making a calculated attempt to keep minorities from voting. Limiting early voting and absentee voting limits the ability of individuals who are working hourly wage jobs from accessing the ballot box. Requiring gov't issued IDs or re-registration like the Oklahoma bill proposes, may limit access to the ballot box for individuals with limited income resources. States and local election boards have closed precinct polling places in largely minority neighborhoods. The "matching signature" on absentee ballot requests is a calculated attempt to limit the number of Democrats that vote as Dems tend to vote in larger mail-in/absentee numbers than the GOP. And I have no idea what signature I used when I first registered in OK. Most people's signatures change over time AND the occasion they are signing. The way I might sign for a loan or mortgage doc or endorsing a check is way different than how I would sign a permission slip for my kid's field trip. Absentee ballot requests are being rejected because the loop on a d is smaller on the voter registration than the signature they provided on the request, or they didn't dot the "i"

Ask yourself, why are Republicans doing this? Because they know they cannot win elections based on the GOP policy stances. And it's no longer about them doing what they think is right...it's now about maintaining their power and way of life and keeping the money flowing into their own pockets.

And anyone who listened to Governor Stittiot's State of the State address yesterday...he basically said the $$$ part out loud and didn't even hide it well. He railed on medical marijuana. Why? Because he and his cronies aren't profiting from it. He rails on public education and continues to want to move public tax dollars to private schools. Why? Because those schools are lining his and GOP lawmakers' pockets. And while EPIC is not technically "private", the money flowing from EPIC to Stitt should be a clear indication the amount of wrongdoing and the governor's involvement is ridiculous. And finally, he continues to harp on the McGirt decision...a case he has lost in the Supreme Court more than once. Why? Because the state's inability to just prosecute everyone and throw them into the private prison complexes around the state is removing $$$ from Stitt's pocket. Why is Stitt, the OKLeg, and the Corporation Commission allowing ONG to stick us with a bill for their failure to plan for an event such as what happened last February? Because ONG is lining their pockets with a portion of that billion dollar bill.

Yeah, I question how all those liberal sources would admit liberal politicians were supporting/doing all those things. Those actions are all illegal, and the politicians & liberal media would never admit this, whether it was being done or not. I have a feeling you've only seen reports of this on shows like Tucker Carlson.
