This is definitely a winnable game and one that got away from us at Temple. While USF is clearly a cut above everyone and UCF, Houston, and Tulane can be dominate Tulsa should do well and has little excuse not to compete with the other teams. The lost at Memphis and Temple are disappointments. I should be able to pay attention and listen to our own announcers (unless Bruce does the plus broadcast) hopefully I will hear a little more about some of the girls who have been out.

Clayton developing has really helped and i hope she gained some confidence against USF because Temple can go big pretty well and her size would help. It's also made missing Hrafnkelsdottir the last two games a little less painful. Wyvette is back, she had some rust and looked like she needed floor time after missing. There will be a half time special done on all three ladies.

Tulsa needs to win this game, no reason they shouldn't although we have struggled shooting and they are a post dominant team. I expect a close game but the ladies to pull it out.

As always on the plus and 93.5 the jet on Iheartradio app.

Bruce and JR calling the game.

Temple banging hard inside Tulsa switches to a zone which is more effective. Tulsa has continued to struggle shooting. Missing free throws and inside shots.

Tulsa will have to make shots if they want to win. Bittle hits a 3 for our first outside shot. Then uses the defense coming out to drive and make a nice dump off. Tulsa just can't make shots. Even getting in transition, missed lay ups. We actually have more shots than Temple but just can't make them.

Bunch of details about how Mossman recruited these players. The stories are pretty good and show how we ended up on the small side this year. We are rebounding decently well in offense and defense.

This is just. Damn it. Why? Tulsa makes a solid play on defense, ball bounces around Temple gets it some how find an open player under basket for lay up at the buzzer. Tulsa doing 85% of stuff right, no points. Shooting 3-18 for 17% and Bittle has made two of the three shots. We're missing free throws again too. Life is tough right now.

We’re awful and this is another coach that needs to be gone. She cannot recruit. We have ZERO inside presence. When you can’t shoot from outside consistently nor can your team hit a layup, you’re in trouble. Matilda made the NCAA once with Charlene’s players and we haven’t been close since. I’ve heard Kathy McConnell Miller is available. She’d be the equivalent of Self returning. She had a great rapport with fans, but she also got really involved around campus with other faculty and staff. I don’t expect much from our women’s bball program but basic competitiveness is one of the things I do expect and we haven’t been close to that in 3-4 years.

and I am watching. It’s bad

Temple extending their defense to pressure the perimeter and stagnate Tulsa's offense. Tulsa being patient and grinding. Bittle playing great, defense and offense. Clayton has come in to give us some size to fight the Temple banging.

Tulsa being fundamentally solid in rebounding and defense. The shots are decent although the pressure has broke them down a handful of times on offense, Tulsa is still generally getting what is wanting. Just can't miss a shot, Temple is making everything and really pushing their inside size advantage.

Did you watch the part where we gave up two inside players and instead took the Mayberrys?

What about two years ago? She's consistently out performed where she is picked.

I'm not sure how you can say she can't recruit?

Mia, Wyvette, Bittle, Evan's, all would play on every team in this conference but USF.

The truth is we need size inside.

If it’s not the players as you are suggesting, then it’s got to be the coach. We’re down 22. at half to a so so (at best) team. Whatever she is trying to build here, it’s obviously not working and we should demand more. And yes, I’ve gone to a good number of their games the last few years because my daughter likes going to their games. In that time I have yet to see a Matilda team put in a full 40 minutes. Again, it’s more about not being competitive with the middle of the AAC. I’m not even talking about trying to compete with USF right now, but we shouldn’t be getting run off our own floor by Temple.

Meh tic tac foul at the end of the half. Temple shooting 60%+ hands in face or not.

Just to be clear here about how undersized Tulsa is. Clayton our freshman is 6'3 Evans is 6'0. Everyone else Tulsa plays regularly is 5'8 or shorter. Temple's coach was commenting about how undersized her power forward is at 6'0. For men's imagine Ugboh was our big. No one else was above 6'3.

Bla is right though if we don't make shots we aren't winning, that is always the issue for a guard dominate team. Our shooting woes mean we don't get competitive. Looking at any of our games by quarters Tulsa more than holds their own with everyone but USF. Low shooting quarters turn bad.

Mossman has definitely taken steps to hide some of the deficiencies, it is on her to recruit bugs. Hard to say no to two Mayberrys, it reminds me some of the Graham bros ending up at OSU instead of Tulsa.

Two things I don't think Temple is really so so. Covid has wrecked Temple's entire athletic program this year. Temple is an inside built team so we are a bad match. I do agree we should be competitive with the middle third. Our shooting has been horrific for five games and that's the issue. Not sure when you are having lay ups missed and good shots off, what a coach does about that.

Otherwise I think your criticism and expectations are accurate. This may not be a good example game but you can point to games this year where we should have been competitive, were competitive for large points of those games and lost badly.

Tulsa still struggling shooting. Temple using their defensive pressure to push Tulsa and make the guards work on offense. On offense they are pounding that post and it is effective.

Tulsa is being creative, trying some pressure, got a nice inbounds play for a bucket. Snagging some rebounds. Lots effort, not a lot of reward for TU. Tulsa is shooting 33% this year for fg%, the worst in Mossman's college career.

Tulsa has a good run, gets broken up by some bad turnovers and Temple gets a couple lay ups out of it.

Bittle continues to play well, Lascay has been missing after a nice run of games where she was coming in to her own. Evan's has been quiet as well although I have noticed she can have sneaky games especially in rebounding. Mayberrys are still off some. Temple has a rough run, Tulsa defense being solid and frustrating Temple in the half court. Temple comfortably in front.

Maybe I should mention quiet players more often? Evans with some solid defense, a rebound and a 3 to finish out the third, Tulsa pesters Temple into a tough shot at the buzzer.

Tulsa hitting shots has a nice 8-2 run to start the quarter. Broken on some Temple free throws. Defense is active, its causing issues. Tulsa goes cold and the refs letting them play a bit, with Temple extending the defense it slows Tulsa down on a possesion and eata time. Tulsa again just can't hit a shot after a nice run. Temple pushes the ball inside to get back in control.

Scramble play goes Tulsa's way finally, they get a 3 out of. Effort by Tulsa to get the ball into Clayton in the post last few minutes. Still good effort on offense and defense. Temple is using their size advantage either pounding the ball in or grabbing rebounds. Tulsa has done decent against the bigger team though only losing the rebounds by 41-32. Tulsa just couldn't make shots and therefore the game never got truly competitive. Credit to Temple on that pound the paint focus and it openned up some decent outside shooting.

I don't like how we finished the game on the last shot. I agree with Rollo, Clayton needs as much time and as many touches as we can get for her. She is clearly still raw but shows a lot of promise. I am going to dig and see if I can find out what happened to Hrafnkelsdottir. Looking back, it seems we have had the shooting struggles since she has been out. Not that she was scoring or rebounding like Wilt, but her presence and experience seemed to help in the post.

This team needs everyone to put in a good game and to make shots.

That's not happening and Tulsa isn't competitive when it doesn't do that.

We should be in games with those five, six, seven, eight teams. Although with Temple being a bad match up I can see trouble there.

We have Wichita and Cincy coming up shortly. Both should be wins leading into the tourney. Tulsa being 6th seed is pretty important, so those wins will matter as will the season sweep of ECU.
