Just said he won't allow Zion to put him on his highlight reel! Shots fired!

Duke by 25. UCF's only chance is a game in the 50s, but that's not going to happen.

Duke is a bad outside shooting team who relies heavily on transition and slashes to the basket. UCF rarely turns it over, has good outside shooting and a big front line who will clog up the lane in their zone.

I think it will be a good game. If it is in the 50s that's a UCF win.

I don’t know about that. This is actually a half decent matchup for UCF. Duke is the worst 3 pt shooting team to win as many games as they have. The other thing is Duke doesn’t play defense on the perimeter. They’ve been that way for years. If Dawkins and/or Taylor have a good game shooting the ball it could get interesting.

I think Zion is going to try to put Tacko on a poster.

Zion better make him eat those words and get that highlight moment early. If history holds true, Tacko will be on the bench with either trouble (likely) or because he's too gassed to contribute (definitely). Proving once again that UCF isn't providing a practical education to their students.

Tacko did a good job against Zion. He was really the only one who took him on. Everyone else said oh no.
I didn't get to see the game as I was at the BOK. Did UCF play mostly a zone defense against Duke? Really that would be the most effective D against a team like Duke who has marginally better athletes who like to get to the rim and is a relatively poor 3pt shooting team.

One aspect that was lost on me until I saw Coach K and Dawkins embrace in the handshake line after the game was the Dawkins/Coach K relationship. That Duke team with Amaker, Dawkins, and the rest of the crew was really good and fun to watch way back in the day.

Not only did they play a zone but often they weren’t within 5 feet of the shooter.

really, with a rim protector like Tacko back there a 3-2 zone or a 2-3 with the outside players on the bottom having heavy responsibility to rotate out to wing shooters along the baseline works best for their personnel...especially against teams that don't shoot well from the outside.

Duke was just lucky to win.
They benefited from the no call on the charge by Zion on the UCF guard that resulted in Taco's 5th foul.
Then on the missed FT the Duke player push the UCCF rebounder out of the play and got the putback.
That one series gave Duke a 4 point swing where they didn't actually earn a point!
They were lucky the UCF player missed the fastbreak dunk.
And lastly they were lucky that Dawkins missed the last second tip-in at the games end.

Also despite looking at the replay missed an obvious hook and hold they have called all season.

I agree with Gold though, the refs have been just horrible all year.

Question: Is there still a three-second lane violation in basketball, and if there is, was Taco Fall exempted from it?

Straddling the lane as he does is legal....No feet are in the lane officially. He has a 12 foot stride.

There is. Refs rarely call it unless the offensive player makes no attempt to actually move though and out. Technically if your toe is on the line you are considered to be within the lane.

Tacko's issue is not so much the offensive 3 second call as much as the defensive 3 second call in the NBA. Someone mentioned he was much better suited to the Euro game because they don't have the same stringent defensive rules as the NBA. I do know that there are a lot more people talking about Tacko now than before and he's going to get a shot playing pro ball somewhere. Before the game on Sunday I can't say that was a guarantee because of some of his limitations mentioned previously.
