So much for democracy

This has the potential of backfiring against the GOP senators. 1st, there are already enough Senators between the Dems and the "gang of 14" to approve a nomination if all feel the nominee is qualified. That majority would likely top 60 if the Dems gain just 3 Senate seats and thus filibuster proof. Merrick, by all accounts, is a competent, moderate justice who tends to be conservative in his interpretation of Constitutional matters. Isn't that what we want? Someone who looks at the matter being questioned and doesn't stretch the Constitution to make a ruling along an ideological party line. I wonder how quick the Judicial Committee will act to hold confirmation hearings if HRC is elected knowing she could go with a far more left-leaning justice and a possible Senate majority.
